Out pheasant hunting and stopped in for lunch. LOVE LOVE. This place is amazing. Their hours are M-F, 7am-5pm. Friendly service, and great food. We had the cheese curds, a tenderloin, double cheeseburger, and ended with a hot brownie with a scoop of ice cream. DELICIOUS! We will be back.

Fish sandwich, onion rings, pickle fries deep-fried to perfection. Arnold Palmers (with Countrytime lemonade.) Big PB-Fudge brownie $1.50. Total bill for two = $23.56 before tip. Highly recommended. On the northwest corner of a T-intersection, US Hwy 69 and turn-off East on J-12 to Weldon, Iowa. Gravel parking lot and restrooms have only exterior entry. Manual wheelchair might need help.

Wades Cafe was a unexpected pleasure in every way. The food was excellent at very low prices, the staff was friendly and competent and, perhaps best of all, Wades is a slice of history. While we were sitting at our table a homemade cinnamon cake appeared, still warm. The restaurant serves ice cream from their 1948 ice cream maker. No air added, just 12% butterfat. According to Monica, who has been managing the cafe for many years and is the wife of a disabled veteran, the ice cream is famous for miles around. The gas pumps date back to the 60’s, not digital. Many of the regular patrons are retired farmers. The Democrats arrive early and the Republicans come a bit later. They frequently stay for awhile drinking their coffee, but Monica said they don’t argue over politics. Wades was originally a fuel station as well as a cafe, a regular stop for the Jefferson Bus Lines which traveled on the Jefferson Highway. That explains why the spotless restroom are at the outside of the building. We feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon this charming and genuine piece of history.

Tracie is the Best!!! Fantastic Dinner Specials like, Ham Balls, etc! You won’t regret it! Tracie runs the front and is a Excellent! She takes all orders at the counter, phone orders, window pick ups and brings all the orders to the customers. She collects the money and still has time to greet each customer as they come through the door, knowing all. And still had time while working to ask how our family is. I believe she can out Multi Task about anybody!!! She is the nicest, friendliest, kindest person you will meet. Great ice cream too!!!

Is it true you are closing the dining room area permanently? I've went to Wade's since I was a young child and I pop in occasionally and see alot of the same friends and neighbors I knew as a child. I personally would hate to see the dining area go away. There are so many ppl that go there to visit with their neighbors and friends, morning coffee, and card players. I hope this was just a rumor.
