If you’re anywhere near Wapello, IA, Sal Vitale’s should be on your radar — if it isn’t already. This place is the real deal. Unassuming from the outside, unforgettable once you sit down.

I went all in:
🍞 Cheese Bread – Absolutely loaded. Not just a side — this thing is a cheese lover’s dream. Golden on the edges, gooey in the middle, and anchored by a red sauce that’s the star of the show. Tangy, rich, perfectly balanced — they don’t phone it in.

🍕 Pizza – Flavor-forward with a crust that supports but doesn’t distract. What stands out? Again, the sauce and cheese. You can tell they take pride in getting the basics not just right, but exceptional. This is pizza done by people who care about pizza.

This is our go to when we want local pizza. The pizza is always good, friendly service and a fair price. They seem to do a huge “to go” business which tells you how much people like their food!

It is my FAVORITE local restaurant. The owner is so kind and caring and the staff is fantastic. The food is fantastic and everything is fresh and delicious!

The acoustics were off, it was loud in there, hard to hear. Food was delicious and staff is very friendly.

Pizza was excellent and both our server and the kitchen staff were super friendly and wanted to make sure we had the best experience.

I came in late night night just before close and they still put the same level of quality as they would have if they had just opened the staff were amazing and I wanna give a shout-out to the crew that was working 3/27/25 they were amazing and kind the food was amazing and overall just a great little slice of life ;| and I would highly recommend

It was too early for supper so we stopped in Wapello Sal Vitales and special ordered a pizza and a Brenda White salad and took them home to bake pizza later. Sals is the most friendly and accommodating restaurant. We go there every chance we get.

It was late two years ago we just came out from ER an accident happened with my mom my little bothers were hungry we saw the placed and stoped to see if it was open there were closing but the owner greeted us told us to seat down and order they weren’t rushing us even tho they had close the food was really good . The best restaurants in Wapello , friendly staff !! Good food !!

Everything was great, except for the veryimited toppings inside the pizza. Flavor was great, but with so little toppings, it was a lot of dough for a lot of dough...
