Dodici’s in Washington, Iowa, has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years. It is always a great dining experience. It is out of the ordinary in so many ways: atmosphere, service, friendliness and most of all THE FOOD. Relax in this shining small town square and enjoy a little trip to Italy.

Cafe Dodici is my favorite restaurant in eastern Iowa. I’ve enjoyed dining here for years. The restaurant is beautiful, and the atmosphere truly creates a wonderful experience.
The weekly lunch specials are fantastic. They have great salad options if you want a lighter meal and you really can’t go wrong with any of the pasta entrees if you’re in the mood. This is not your typical Italian restaurant. It operates many degrees above!
While I love their dinner and lunch, Sunday brunch is my favorite. We are so lucky to have this option in small town Iowa.

Went at. 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. There were four tables all with their food. My table had two. We were seated and given menus. We waited 30 mins for our water and was told our waitress would be with us shortly. Another 30 mins and someone came by to top off our water and asked if our orders had been taken. She then provided us with the special for the day. Another 20 mins and a waitress comes to take our food order. Very simple, panini and the lunch special. We waited for 45 mins. Another table of two came in and received their mains around the time I received my salad. Another 20 mins, I finally stop the hostess and mention my companion had not received her salad. Our meal finally arrived. My pasta was room temp for an egg based sauce. It was good, but would have been better if it had not sat at room temp. We had to flag down our waitress to get a to go box and ask for the dessert that came with the special to be wrapped up. My boxed meal came and then we waited another 20 mins for the bill and my dessert. By this point, we are the last people in the restaurant. Another 10 mins for her to find a bag and she still didn’t take payment. I opened the dessert the next day and it is seriously a 1 inch square of cake. Perhaps they shouldn’t advertise it as a cake serving but a tasting.
For the price of food and the reputation, better service should be expected. I am pretty forgiving and willing to accept delays when things are busy. But this was not the case. One waitress seemed to have a handle on all of her tables and was seen frequently. But ours made an appearance and then we did not see her for long stretches. Food coming out cold with only four people still eating in the dining room, is ridiculous. Again, I could be understanding if numerous to go orders were happening, but that also was not the case. Great atmosphere and cute place, but not worth the price.
I think I will pass my next trip to Washington.

Beautiful place. Great food! Wait staff not very attentive. Never checked on us after serving our food. Had to flag her down to get missing salad dressing. She had plenty of time to socialize with her coworker about after work plans, but no time to check on us. Otherwise, food and atmosphere were very good!
