I appreciate the effort to make fast food a little less unhealthy. Next, let's get rid of the prcessed cheese and get real dairy chedder. MAHA

I grew up on Steak n' Shake in Indiana and Illinois. I have very fond memories of it.
On this visit to this location, our burgers were fine. The fries were fine. I ordered cheese for my fries and was given a small condiment cup only about 1/3 of the way filled with cheese. The cheese wasn't hot. It was a little warmer than Luke warm.
While I understand there are challenges with staffing since COVID-19, I feel like Steak n' Shakes new model of relying on kiosks and requiring guests to get their own food and drinks from the counter versus being served by waitresses has stripped Steak 'n Shake of their differentiating experience. They've basically become another McDonald's. Shakes are now served in Styrofoam cups instead of cool, tall, Steak n' Shake branded milkshake glasses. Instead of a plate of fries with molten-hot cheese, Steak n' Shake serves fries in a basket with a disappointing frugal portion of Luke warm chees in a paper condiment cup.

We stopped at this location (drive through) in the evening of January 20th and ordered two #8 meals with chocolate shakes. We took our food to an adjacent hotel where we were staying. The shakes were great, but our burgers had nothing on them but cheese. As I bit into mine, I discovered some foreign (non-food) material that I can only guess was paper of some sort. Maybe the sheets that separate patties or cheese slices? I don't know. It was gross and disgusting. If it hadn't been so bitterly cold out that evening, I would have returned the burgers. We won't stop at this location again.

Having grown up near a two steak n shake town, there was the old one, and a newer one, it was a real treat when we came into town, to eat at steak n shake, i have good memories. Having left illinois years ago I would only sporadically, come across a steak n shake, we used to drive a hundred miles to go to a steak n shake. They have lost the soul of what made them unique, ordering from an electronic Kiosk just isn't the same as going to a counter or talking to a waitress that would come to your table. And the fries aren't as good.

Drive through service was terrible. Asked for two sacks as I had two orders. The person with me was going to a different location. One only one sack when I told the young lady that I had asked her for two separate bags she laughed. Two, no napkins, three my Coke turned out to be a Diet Coke, four the phone number on the receipt and website is disconnected. Hamburger was pretty good, fries cold but not too salty. I guess when you go someplace and there are almost no people there, must be a reason.

The workers are so rude here....the one with a white hat that called out name made the worst shake that I had to ask for because they didn't know we had ordered one I had to show them my receipt... I highly suggest you go to a different location so you don't get treated so rudely...
