The Grumpy Goat Tavern - 50th Street

Worst restaurant to ever go to. Took 30 minutes for a waitress to get drinks and menus out. We got the food order in and proceeded to wait 1.5 hours for the order and still nothing. DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE. There were numerous employees that were not doing their jobs and just sitting on their phones and not caring. Hopefully West Des Moines pulls their liquor license and they would be closed in a heartbeat.

It was absolutely terrible I sat here for 1 hour and a half and still haven’t got my food. Incredibly disappointed. I do not recommend.

I had a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon and avocado and secret sauce. The onion rings were also tasty!

Environment was dirty and smelled bad. Food was tasteless and tough and gave the impression that it had been laying around since the previous day and reheated. The server wasnt friendly or attentive. Not a business I'll ever support again. Vote with your wallet and dine elsewhere until a better restaurant lands in this location.

Over priced everything. Dirty place overall. Server Casey was awful. Our food was good, drinks were bad. Do not recommend.

Needs new ownership. Everyone knows about the existing owner but beyond that the prices are insane. $17.50 for a small basket of cheese curds?! $36 for that and 2 glasses of house wine?On the flip side, Bradley’s is doing well given their normal prices!

Came in around lunchtime, not busy at all, only one hostess named Casey, and we had to wait about 15-25 min before ordering. He kept on focused on one table and forgetting he had other tables that were waiting to order. Once the food was ready, he messed up most of our orders, and some of the food was warm. Bad service and food for a first visit would not be recommended if you plan on waiting for a while.

I would give 5 stars for Marcy, unfortunately every time the owner goes to jail the prices go up.I'm never spending another dime in any of his establishments. Oh and don't be fooled when it's sold, Steve will still be in control!!!!

Ok place to have a beer but stank to high heaven. Complained to waitress who said their grease trap was backed up. So fix it. Trying to have a beer in a sewage line is not desirable.

Amazing. Dog friendly — gave our pups bacon and water. Turned on heating on patio just for us and our dogs. Wings super crispy, salad super fresh. 10 /10

If I could rate this place with a half star, I would have! Food was terrible, over priced and extra small portions for the money. The staff were not helpful or friendly and EVERYTHING took forever! Never setting foot in another of these establishments.

I know prices have gone up. I don't complain about that. I still go out because I enjoy it. I know eggs are expensive. I get it!However, $16.00 for one (1) Egg Benedict is RIDICULOUS! Literally one little egg, fruit cup and tator tots. Egg was not cooked as I asked and service was very spotty.I don't give bad reviews to places as I know times are still weird but this place took the cake. Will NOT be going back.

I ordered the Eggs Benedict and this is the first place I've been served a half a serving. Where's the other half of the English muffin? Poor presentation, very disappointed.

I'm sitting at the bar and the bar tender is talking about how she hates the owner and how hes raised prices here multiple times and is looking for a different job currently. Shes right, the prices are high. She was complaining about having to close and then open and was talking really bad about her own job and getting hours which most people would be greatful for. When she mentioned she is quitting and hates it at the grumpy goat I jokingly said well good thing it doesn't show on your face and she immediately became combative and started calling me rude as if I was the problem. If you dont want someome to agree that you look like you hate your job than don't openly talk about how much you hate it. It was the most unpleasant experience I've ever had at a bar and I do not recommend ever going to this establishment because of this bar tender specifically. I hope she finds the other job she was telling everyone she is looking for. I believe her name is Chelsea. The irony she works at a place called the grumpy goat as if they named it after her.
