I came in expecting a good time and ordered two shots, then immediately closed out my tab and left a couple dollars as a tip. The next day, I noticed a $42 charge on my card. Either the shots were $10+ each or someone on your staff decided to take advantage.
Regardless, this is unacceptable. I’ll be sticking to The Tonic downtown from now on — the West Des Moines location has lost my trust.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing experience at this bar, all thanks to Janie! From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. Not only is she super friendly, but she’s also a true expert when it comes to crafting drinks. She made the perfect cocktail tailored to my taste, and it was delicious. Throughout the night, she was attentive, efficient, and really made sure everyone had a great time. Janie is definitely one of the reasons I’ll keep coming back. Highly recommend her service if you’re ever here!

Just went this weekend, Got charged for 3 drinks when I only bought 2. I keep my receipts and they definitely over-charged me. Never going back unless I have cash and won’t bother tipping then.

It's an okay place to go every now and again. The music sucks. For New Years they charged $30 a person which is insane, $20 would be understandable about $30 is crazy for it to just be an okay vibe and for the music to not be good. They need at least 1 more bartender on each floor. It can take up to 20+ minutes to get a drink which we all have to wait but that's crazy. The bathrooms are always gross and always leaking/overflowing with toilet water, trash, you name it. Hiring a few more staff members could make this place more enjoyable.

It was my first time at tonic in west Des Moines. I was visiting the club, noticed a white guy being racist to us. Told us we didn’t belong there and started arguing with us and threatened to kick us out. Then kicked me and my buddy out instead of who started arguing with us since they were white and we weren’t. I will never go back unless they change the security team.

The DJ keeps a great hip-hop vibe going. It's much more relaxed than Bouncing Betty's next door. Definitely a good place to take a breather, but not the bar with the best partying.

Unfortunately, while attempting to go in to celebrate the new year, my friend’s valid&real ID was taken by a bouncer. She just used it several hours prior at a gas station to buy her pre game beverages- scanned and accepted okay. She also has the gold star. I just felt so bad that myself and my friend were okayed and paid, then my third invite was singled out. She also felt mad uncomfortable since she happened to be the only black girl with us- and that was NOT the case. He wasn’t (I hope) trying to be malicious, but her go to was that. She asked “is it my hair?” And he shooed her off. Just a tough situation, especially considering I have seen said bouncer before and as a bartender myself I get the importance of his iob. Just sucked.
