I am staying with my son, originally from Santa Claus, Indiana, and wanted to take my granddaughter some place she hadn’t been yet. Unfortunately, she was stung by a bee when I parked (not by their building) but a sweet woman named Brenda came to our rescue with a quick baking soda paste. Besides that kindness, we also enjoyed some amazing ice cream and walking around the museum in the back part of the store. This is a genuine pleasure and unlocked a core memory of being at a similar place in my hometown. I would HIGHLY recommend taking the time to visit this gem!
Traveling through the back roads and small towns of America, you discover hidden gems and amazing places that you will never find on an Interstate. Today we found one such place in Wilton, Iowa when we stumbled upon Wilton Candy Kitchen, an operating turn of the century soda fountain and ice cream parlor. To say it was amazing would be an understatement. The cherry Coke was homemade, the ice cream expertly crafted, and the chocolate fluffernut sandwich was childhood rediscovered. Then there were the owners. Amazing people with an amazing story to tell. People who you can talk to for an hour and it seems like a minute. Do yourself a favor and abandon the Interstate, find those back roads, grab a home made cherry Coke and discover places like Wilton and historic soda foundations like Wilton Candy Kitchen.
Cool place, not quite all it is hyped up to be though. Definitely historic with some good ice cream and soda. Great place to bring family for a fun day out.
The new owner is very friendly and the ice cream/ drinks was great.
Fun, nostalgic place, great ice cream.

Fun little store off the beaten path.
Small variety of nostalgic candies and we enjoyed the chocolate malts, which were delicious and very reasonably priced.
Store owners and staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome.

A hidden gem in Iowa. This place opened back in the 1860s and is, to my knowledge, still going strong. Really good sweets and other food here alongside a lot of history. Definitely check this place out, you won't be disappointed.

There's a lot of history inside this establishment. Not as much candy as I was hoping for though. It's worth a stop.

Awesome history. Owners wonderful people. Great place to visit.
My boyfriend and I went together a while ago and it was incredible. It was my first time going there and I was shocked at how reasonably priced the menu items were and how great the food we got tasted. It wasn’t very busy the day we went but the guy working there that day was super friendly and fun to talk to. 10/10 perfect spot to hangout and get food, I plan on going again soon!
