We were there when the place was almost empty, so very quiet place. I imagine when it is full, it can get pretty loud”

I started with a Lunchbox—turns out orange juice is a rare commodity in Lamont. No problem. Switched to an Irish Car Bomb. No Guinness. I was 0 for 2 and beginning to feel like the problem might be me.

The owner’s daughter was behind the bar and handled it all with a calm, no-nonsense rhythm. Friendly, fast, and clearly prepared for whatever chaos RAGBRAI was about to bring.

It’s not a place that puts on airs. No frills, no juice, no Guinness. But also no attitude, no weird vibe, and no regrets.
