pupusas A&J's restaurant

My boyfriend has been wanting to try this place for awhile now so we decided to go. My boyfriend thought it was ok I on the other hand was not a fan at all. The tamale that my boyfriend got was microwaved and birria tacos I got came with a beef dipping juice instead stead of the normal birria sauce that you get.

Salvadoran joy! Pupusas, Yuka, horchata, platanos, and more. This place had everything I've missed of Salvadoran food, and it tastes fantastic! The Pupusa Loca and the tacos were new to me but SO GOOD! Don't forget to finish with a flan. Classic favorite, after all that goodness. Parking is rough, but when you can get in and stay a few, great service and food make it all worth it. I'll be back soon, and I'm taking home a stack of pupusas when I do. Thank you!

They take so long it took like 40min to get our food ready.

Wow. Just wow! That was awesome! I've heard of this place for a while now, but since I live in Boise, I hadn't had the chance to make it out there until today. From the moment I walked in, I was immediately greeted with a large smile and friendly staff. The young man who took my order walked me through the menu and made great suggestions, and couldn't have been more friendly. I ordered one with chorizo and jalepeno, and one with pork, beans, and cheese. Also got a pork tamale. All of which were amazing!

3 complaints:
1. I only got 2 pupusas.
2. I ate them, so there's no more of this delicious food in front of me.
3. It's in Caldwell so I can't easily get more.

Go get some of this awesome food. You won't be disappointed!

We were in town visiting and tried some pork and cheese pupas from here. They were so good. I'm always skeptical when I try a new place because sometimes they are bland with not a lot of filling. These were delicious ? hoping to go back for more tomorrow!

This is the third the I go the food is okay nothing impresive honestly in my opinion a little overpriced, the place is kinda dirty and needs a remodeling

Pupusas a&js Is now permanently closed due to owners going into retirement the original owners have stopped running the restaurant for awile now so they apologize for the bad service and decline in food taste. Small menu, but if you enjoy papusas, it is great. I like the spinach. Horchata is good, also. If you haven't had a Papua, give them a try!

I was a regular customer here since 2020, food was delicious, and prices were fair. But in the past year or so, staff is not as welcoming, they look mad all the time, especially when you're all nice to them. Their Pupusas have no flavor whatsoever, it tastes like an ingredient was left overnight and they are smaller now too. I've ordered about 4 times this year, thinking it was a bad day and I kept going to give them another chance but it's truly disappointing. Apart from their bland food, their horchatas are way over charged, you either make it at home or go to La Michoacana/Sandras for their refreshing drinks. Money is all they care about now, everything is up due to inflation I'm aware but at least should take care of the property and food should always have flavor.
