Just about everything with this inn is wrong — very shabby, not charming. Feels like you’re sleeping in a fire trap with no control over air temperature. It’s a rabbit warren to get to and from your room. Elevator feels unsafe. And you have to traverse several ramps and stairs to even reach the elevator. Once you get to the room, there is no where to put your clothes. We did have an old wardrobe in the room, but even the hangars supplied by the inn, didn’t fit. All of the gates to the property are held together by rubber straps because none of the gate latches work. We were so appalled by the inn that we didn’t bother to try the included breakfast. Maybe that would have been positive, but we didn’t want to take the chance. The large lawn and garden were nice, but that was all. We didn’t know about the reality series Hotel from Hell until we had checked into our room, but it seems like not much has changed since the show was shot.

I thought this neat inn that was once a school would be a cool place to stay. The bed was comfortable but the place was a little run down. Smelly older towels. Dark rooms. The gal at the front desk was kind, but the older military vet that works there that I believe is the proprietor or owner, was rude and mildly aggressive in his language and behavior toward me when I knocked on the kitchen door there requiring assistance. Walking in after I thought he said “it’s unlocked”…I was confronted by a very rude man. I quickly learned there was a misunderstanding; apparently he said “hold on” not “it’s unlocked”. I stepped into the kitchen saying “hello?” And he quickly approached me, asking why people like me can’t understand what “hold on” means? He then basically body blocked me from entering the mini-prep kitchen any further and at at least 6’3, started to push me out with his body by stepping toward me, almost stepping on my toes. He was uncomfortably close, inches from my face. I backed up all the way into the next room. Way too aggressive to act toward another person, especially a women. A man that had come into the adjacent room to get coffee (and actually was the guest who told me that the person who could help me was in the kitchen) was equally dumbfounded when this brut of a guy asked him if he could explain to him why people like me don’t listen, and went on to tell him that it’s something he’ll never understand. I was shocked and felt totally disrespected as a guest. I didn’t apologize but instead only explained the misunderstanding. He definitely thinks woman are in a lower class then men and spoke to me as if I was. I will never go back there, mostly due to the behavior toward me of this man that works there.

My friend an I had the Roosevelt Room and it was super cute with the lounge chair and armoire. The sun came in through the lace windows in the morning which made for a cozy start to the day. The garden around the house is so relaxing, I would have loved to spend more time hanging out there. We played some board games in the common space inside as well. Great location to access downtown and the lake. Highly recommend this location to stay.

We stayed in the Roosevelt Suite and it did not disappoint! I had booked a different room, but the managment kindly accomodated our desire to stay an extra night by making it easy to move our reservation to the Roosevelt Suite. I am so glad they did! The bed was massive and comfortable! The breakfast was delicious and any staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay more often if we did not live over 4000 miles away. This was part of our 11th anniversary trip to see friends and family and they included an anniversary card in our room :)

Stayed one night as part of a road trip from Denver to Seattle. Tina the owner was very welcoming. The Inn is convenient for the lake and the town which is dominated by a huge modern resort built on the lake, interesting boardwalk, longest in the world or so it claims with lovely views The Inn is an old school house with lots of memorabilia, slightly cluttered and could do with an update but a pleasant enough place to stay and breakfast was above average

Comfort, beauty, personable, history ... and friendly dogs! Just a few of the descriptors I would use for this lovely Inn. As you first walk in you are welcomed by such warmth of people and location. It is an easy walk to the water and resort, which was where we enjoyed dinner on a patio with a view. After check-in, we received a tour and some information about the history of the B&B. The rooms and beds were comfortable and had a charm that I loved. We were two couples who traveled together and stayed in the Hansen/Larsen room which is two separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom. It worked out perfectly for us. A few specific things that made our experience even better: 24 hour coffee and tea (and hot chocolate), treats in the room (umm, those "crack" cookies were amazing!), 24 hour access to the hot tub and sauna, a fire pit to sit around and enjoy the evening, great breakfast ... and did I mention, beautiful dogs! The only downfall was we didn't stay longer. I look forward to coming back and spending more time exploring Couer d'Alene, and of course, having more time at the Roosevelt Inn.

A wonderful stay. The staff took care to get my reservation right; they secured the dinner cruise tickets I wanted at a discount. We were able to walk the few blocks to the lake and the boat. The grounds and gardens were beautiful, well-tended, and peaceful. The hot tub was great after a long day of travel. We were able to store our bikes securely and parking our truck was not a problem. The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. Breakfast (apple pancakes and fluffy eggs) was outstanding. My favorite of all: the friendly, calm old golden retriever and his yellow lab friend who loved to greet people and be petted.

What ac great experience staying at the Roosevelt Inn. Perfect location only a very short walk from the lake. It felt like I was staying with family. The innkeeper makes fresh cookies everyday, Continental breakfast that is wonderful and they are all super friendly. The decor is very charming and sticks to the theme of an old school that was converted to an inn. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. There is a huge chess and checkers set, a huge new hot tub that is covered so I’m sure it’s perfect during the winter too, a sauna and many more lawn games. There are multiple seating areas outside with a fire pit. The rooms are cozy and the bed was comfy. Highly recommend!

I was visiting family in another town and decided to stay at the Roosevelt Inn. I wanted something homey, comfortable and safe. And it was wonderful. The beds were soft, the shower was hot, the workers were fabulous and even knew me by name. It was within walking distance of all of the Coeur d'Alene sights, downtown, restaurants, boat trip around the lake. It was perfect.

Charming hotel , walking distance to everything. Staff were pleasant and helpful with local information. Rooms were unique, well kept, and clean. The town is steps away with really nice local shops and restaurants. Toy store ( Figpickles) is worth a visit or two.
