Ordered the pot roast and was amazed, absolutely loved it. Worth the drive off the interstate. Our waitress Tona had a smile that was contagious and service that was like I was a frequent customer.

Been here several times and always enjoyed the food. Took my sister after raving about the restaurant and it was bordering on mediocre. The chicken fried steak was rather bland and the fries seemed less than fresh. I'm hoping it was a fluke, so will go back to find out.

Happy hour during the middle of the day on certain days. Burger and fries are excellent. Can be a little noisy inside when full capacity.

Amazing service and food! The server was kind and pleasant. The chef came out and offered alternative options when I said I was vegetarian. Both people were more than happy to answer any questions we had and explained how everything is homemade! We're just driving through so can't come back but you should, definitely recommend!

We dined in last night and had: cornbread & a side Cesar to start, split the Apple Whiskey Sandwich for an entree.
The cornbread came in a skillet with plenty of butter and a citrus honey sauce on the side. The Cesar was not anything special. We loved the sandwich- the flavors were the best we have encountered on our trip to CDA. With a large side of fries, it was perfect for two people to split.
Only reason for 4/5 stars, was the cocktail menu was pretty lacking. There were a few drinks, but we felt there could have been an option for more fun cocktails to go with the amazing menu!
We didn’t have a reservation, but came in right at 5pm, and the staff was very accommodating.

The food was fantastic. It has comfort food with flavorful options to slice up the food. Only complaint, the restaurant needs more outdoor seating because inside was WAY too hot.

I loved the mac & cheese here; cheese blend was spot-on and crispy chicken on the top was well savory good topping to the dish. I also liked the idea of pickled onion on the top, cause it helped me not get too tired of cheesy flavor by refreshing my mouth, enabling me non-stoppably munching the mac & cheese.

Although I loved the mac & cheese, Huckleberry Honey Ale was probably the worst beer I had during this whole year. It felt like eating huckle berry first, pour little bit of raw honey into my mouth after, and then pour cheap bottle beer as the last step. What I'm trying to say is that the flavors were not getting along with each other at all. Can't remember when was my last time to taste this badly unbalanced beer. But the blame is on me. I was the one who thought that'd be interesting ale that I must try from the beer rotation list. The waitress even asked me “Do you wanna try its sample first?” and I was like “No I will just get it, I really need to drink this one” and oh god no I was very wrong.

Beer that I chose with unclued over-confidence was a huge miss, but I loved the main dish I got here, I liked the vibe of this place, and there are many many more menu from this place that I'd love to try if next chance. Hence 5 stars.

Without a doubt, the Apple Whiskey Chicken was the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had.

A Flavorful Gem in Coeur d’Alene – Comfort Food with a Cultural Twist

Izzy’s Comfort Kitchen was the first restaurant I tried in Coeur d’Alene, and it truly set the bar high. While dining options in the area tend to lean toward American diners, breakfast joints, and Mexican fare, Izzy’s stands out with creative takes on Southern comfort food and cultural influences—even offering hints of Egyptian and Caribbean-inspired flavors.

The menu features dishes you won’t easily find elsewhere, like oxtail soup, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp with grits, all elevated with bold, unexpected twists. They also proudly display their “Best of the Islander” awards, and it’s easy to see why—with options like a standout Bloody Mary and plenty of gluten-free offerings.

We visited during Happy Hour and sampled a variety of dishes. The wings were incredibly crispy with a unique, flavorful dry rub that was unlike any I’ve had before—deep, savory, and absolutely addictive. The shrimp were charred just right, though slightly overcooked for my taste, but still rich in flavor thanks to their sweet and savory house sauce. The fried green tomatoes were softer than expected (I was hoping for more crunch), but they paired nicely with the vegetable sides.

The fries were a last-minute addition—we spotted them at a nearby table and couldn’t resist. Thin, golden-brown, and extra crispy, they did not disappoint.

What really made the experience exceptional was the service. The staff were attentive, fast, professional, and kind—bringing us extra boxes and condiments without us even asking. The entire atmosphere lived up to the restaurant’s name: warm, cozy, and comforting, with rustic yellow décor, floral accents, and bar-style light fixtures that added charm without feeling kitschy.

We were seated right at 11 a.m. on a Wednesday, and by noon, the place was packed—always a good sign. Between the flavorful food, inviting atmosphere, and thoughtful service, Izzy’s Comfort Kitchen is a gem in Coeur d’Alene I’d definitely come back to—and recommend to anyone looking for something deliciously different.

Brunch is only on Saturday and Sunday! The burger and pot roast were both exceptional. I also recommend the curly fries as a side. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting CDA.
