Me and my wife loved going here because of the bangers and mash. It had became a regular date evening. We ordered our bangers and mash and paid and tipped ahead of time. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and they brought them out to us. My wife’s was bloody in the center mine was more of a medium so I was ok but my wife was scared to eat hers. So I brought it back to the lady behind the bar and she tried to tell me the spices are the reason the center was red and scoffed at me as she turned and rolled her eyes. I could see her and the cook in the back speaking on how stupid we are to send it back. So she comes back rudely saying a new one is being made. She brought it to us once it was done cooked perfectly and I’m sure with extra spit. We won’t be coming back. After 16 years myself working in restaurants I know a little about customer service and how pork is cooked.

“The Crown & Thistle: Where Happiness is Fried and Poured”

I wandered into The Crown & Thistle thinking I’d just have “a quick pint.” Two hours later, I was knee-deep in Guinness and emotionally attached to the scotch egg.

The scotch eggs here are not mere snacks—they’re deep-fried works of art. Perfectly crisp on the outside, warm and savory on the inside… basically, if a hug could be breaded, this would be it. I’m not saying I cried when I bit into one, but I’m also not saying I didn’t.

And the Guinness? Poured so perfectly it made me consider writing poetry. Smooth, creamy, and served with the kind of reverence you’d expect at a royal wedding.

The staff were friendly, though I suspect they’re secretly wizards, because my pint kept magically refilling itself. If you’re looking for a place to lose track of time, gain a mild Guinness buzz, and eat enough scotch eggs to question your life choices—this is it.

Long live The Crown & Thistle. And pass me another scotch egg.

We absolutely love Crown and Thistle! English Breakfast, fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding. I could eat here all day! The little nook tables are great for conversation. The open area is perfect for big groups.

outstanding across the board. came in at opening on a quiet summer Wednesday morning. Shannon was wonderful, warm, and engaging. Full-sized progress flag on the side of the fridge let me know this was a place that would welcome everyone.

Service was top-notch, and the food was outstanding. Had a full sampling of the pub menu and everything was delicious. If you're in CdA and want some proper British grub, don't miss this place.

Holy Moly! Delicious English comfort food! Can't wait to get back! Try the short rib pie or the bangers and mash. The sausages are made across the street.

Great place to eat, the food was awesome and the accompanying salad delicious! Would have been 5 stars but the bartender screwed up. Gave me a bottled beer and asked if I wanted a glass. When I said yes, he poured for me (shouldn't have and then not a hard pour as it should be) then wasted at least 2 swallows of my beer by stopping early and rinsing the bottle! He should know better!

Coolest atmosphere in Cda. Really feels like a British/european pub. Food is incredible. They have a rotating selection of sausages and they are always great. Beer selection is always good. Staff is super cool. Try the pies

It was a busy Saturday afternoon when I walked in. There was only one lady doing the bar, taking orders, waitressing etc. I can’t believe how she managed to cope with everything. She needs a trophy. Anyway, the scotch egg was amazing. It sat on this bed of greens which had a delicious mustard vinaigrette glazed on it. For the fish and chips, I decided to try the salmon because I find ‘white fish’ to be tasteless. I did not regret the salmon option. So glad I came here.

This was such a fun British pub style place with a mix of Irish & Scottish food mixed in. This satisfied our U.K. Pub fix, one of our favorite things to do when traveling. It was so nice to see Guinness on tap and such a great variety of beers. The fish & chips were delicous, just a bit soft from being placed on top of hot fries. The Guinness stew pie was good, just not quite the pies I missed in Britain where it was a stew inside a fully crusted pie, than smothered in brown gravy. This was a rammekin with puff pastry on top. Still delicous. The four bangers we tried were all incredible. Perfectly balanced. The perfect end to the meal was the sticky toffee pudding. It was so perfect. Better than most of the ones we had all over the U.K.! Service was great and a must visit place when in Coeur D'Alene.
