the food was okay the service was good!!!!!!
We tried this place for the first time this morning. It was worth the drive from Spokane. We arrived at around 7:30am and the place was already buzzing, but not overly crowded. Servers were busy, but still waited on us efficiently and with courtesy. I had the avocado toast and a single pancake (which was huge). Our server very kindly granted my request for heart-healthy modifications. Although it seemed like I ate a lot of food, I was very satisfied, but didn't feel overly full. It was perfect. Finally, I always appreciate a business that provides an atmosphere of inclusivity. I'm glad to see they are doing good business. We'll definitely be back!
Wow! The food here is amazing! Service is great and the vibe is awesome. We were in town for a vacation and went back twice because it was such a great experience.
Great beef hash
Generous portions, friendly staff, duck sausage was delicious.
My wife and I have been to the garnet cafe loved it the coffee was amazing the food was amazing and the service was amazing, however this time I was so embarrassed I literally wanted to cry, i was working in the area and was getting ready to go to the next job but I was waiting for a phone call from my boss, who was supposed to call me and let me know where the next job was. My wife and I wanted a good meal we hadn't had anything but sandwiches working long hours and trying to get the last job done, we got done with the job early in the morning and decided to go to the garnet but they didn't open for another hour so we sat in the pickup waiting for it to open ended up falling asleep we were exhausted and starving but we knew any second we were expecting a call but since we fell asleep we were pushing it timewise so we sat down at a table and got some coffee, if you've never had the coffee at the garnet you havent had coffee, we wanted to order so badly but sleeping in a little worried us because we didn't want to order then have to leave and he should be calling any second , so we waited to see if we could make it happen after talking to the boss , the waitress would come over and ask us and we tried to explain that we were waiting on a phone call she seemed to be irritated I was paying attention to the other tables I would never hold up a table if someone wanted to eat so after a few I asked if we could drink our coffee at one of the tables out front of the restaurant and I got a rude ill get you a to go cup and I said ok I said we are going to order some food were just ......and then she snarled and said you can't eat outside I said why not and she embarrassed me in front of a whole bunch of people I was embarrassed bad I didn't understand why I was being treated like that she had said earlier that she was paying for our coffee and that if we needed to go we could I thought that was a sweet gesture and I said oh well thank you but now I knew exactly what was going on she didn't think we had any money so I handed my debit card to her and said I just need to pay for the coffee she said nope you can leave it's already been paid for and that's when I found out it doesn't matter how hard you work or how nice you are to people once they decide what you are there is no changing there mind , I will never go back to the garnet I can't believe she treated me like that it hurt my feelings it embarrassed me and I didn't deserve not a single bit of what she did I'm just so shocked as to how she treated me I've been there a few times while I. The area I just can fathom ever stepping into that again I don't treat people like that and I certainly can't except being treated like that it was horrible to say the least Dennis and Tracy 😭😭😭😭🫥
Good food and good service
We came in for breakfast Sunday at 9:15 AM. One of the servers was singing, dancing, and slapping the other waitresses on the bottom. The Bluetooth speaker ( sitting on the counter right when you walk in ) was way too loud, and we were not greeted until four employees had passed us by.. our server is very good and our food was excellent, but the atmosphere and the dancing employee and the volume of the music was way too much. We did notice a couple behind us left, and there was a gentleman in the corner covering his ears. We have always liked this restaurant and loved the food, but I will not be back. Just a sidenote, they don’t answer the phone either. I’ll take our business somewhere else. This is really a shame because they certainly know how to put out a delicious breakfast/lunch.

Ordered a salad, with Avacdo dressing, and asked if they had a balsamic dressing, which i said that if they did, I would prefer that, but the salad came our with a ton of chunky blue cheese dressing... i don't care much for Blue cheese dressing, but I also ate the idea of throwing good food away...so I ate it... but the food was just so so... we have eaten there quite a few times, but really didn't enjoy our last visit.

The Garnet Cafe is our favorite breakfast restaurant in North Idaho. Their dishes are unique, creative, and wonderful. Try their spaghetti and eggs! I love their homemade corned beef. I do miss their old location in the house on Walnut Avenue, but they still have a charm in their interesting decor. Their waitresses are friendly and provide great service. Check it out!

The service was great. The food was disappointing. The French toast was gooey, the sausage gravy contained no detectable sausage, the maple syrup seemed like caramel-colored Karo, and the coffee was mediocre.

Unfortunately, the garnet has increased its seating and output. As a result, the quality of their food has suffered. It's also possible a change in cooks as hurt them. Food is generally bland, with the duck confit being overcooked and bland, and potatoes unseasoned and undercooked. It's surely not all bad, but it definitely falls from what used to be the greatest breakfast spot in North Idaho. Would recommend, as it's possible it was just a bad day for them

Local delicious-ness. The garnet is amazing. The staff is a pleasure to be around, some of the most delicious breakfasts you'll have anywhere in this area. Their breakfast spaghetti is famous for being so darn tasty! Try it for yourself and you will see what I'm talking about

The food was very good but not as hot as it should have been. I ordered a scramble. It was warm but not hot making me think it was sitting out a bit before it was brought out to our table. Service was good and prompt. The music was pretty loud making conversation challenging. Over all, we'd go back.
