Food is always undercooked, especially the rice. I let it go the first couple times because I love costa Vida but recently EVERY SINGLE ORDER has been undercooked. I’m done with this location, to many kids that don’t know how to cook properly smh

Food is always fresh. They prepare the dishes in front of you.

I might have finally decoded the secret for tastes. I'm past visits (always with family who like Costa Vida) I have found the food to be too ... soupy, for lack of a better description. But this time, after watching the assembly line servers spoon up the normal ... let's say extra juicy (to be kind) food for the enchiladas, burritos, salads, etc., when I ordered I requested from each server to please strain the food - black beans, pork, rice, everything, and then asked for extra cheese to help. I enjoyed the good this time, and could see me not minding going there again. The service was very timely, the soft drinks allow free refills. 3 stars for food which is up 2 stars from past experiences, and 3 for atmosphere only because it is still a fast food place - how much atmosphere can there be? But the service was spot-on. Kudos to them.

Chicken was hard as a rock like jerky, this would not pass a food inspection!

Horrible service had a mobile order checked in when it was supposed to be ready and then waited half an hour more from when food was supposed to be done. While other mobile orders walked in and got their food right away.

The food quality and service have significantly declined. Our order was incorrect, and when we tried to contact the restaurant, multiple times over the past few days no one answered the phone. We left two messages but never received a call back. It’s really disappointing.

We just recently moved from CA to Star, ID. On our move here, we stopped at a Costa Vida in Utah and liked it. We wanted to try this one, the closest to our home. It is located at Linder and Chinden just east of the O'Reilly Auto Parts store.

The restaurant has the high ceilings and plenty of light. You go through a line and order your food, much like a Chipotle or Cafe Rio. The staff were nice enough.

They don't have the drink options that the Utah store had, like a strawberry lemonade drink. And, for me, the epic fail is to be advertising in multiple areas of the restaurant that it is "Shrimp season", but when I tried to order a shrimp item, I was told that they don't, in fact, have any shrimp. Something about underestimating the demand. Something about "our supplier". Since I had my heart--and taste buds--set on shrimp, this was very disappointing. Also, their decor is something beachy, with surfboards and other coastal type items and pictures. Indeed, they don't offer seafood at all, except the "seasonal" shrimp, which they aren't offering, either.

I ended up getting a chicken burrito. While I liked the texture, the sauces and the chicken lacked a good flavor. My wife got the pork tacos, which she also said lacked flavor.

I have a feeling that we will not be coming back to Costa Vida, "Coast of Life".

The menu isn't huge but enough choices for a nice fresh lunch. The cilantro lime dressing is a knockout. Can't wait to try the shrimp on my tostada salad next time. Lots of food for good price. Cute inside if we were inclined to eat there and a pretty patio.

Someone needs to teach the staff how to get control of the dinning room. There were like 50 LDS older people making their own really long table and it was in the direct path to the only other open table. The dinning room was so packed we would have all died if a fire broke out. There had to be 100+ LDS people in the restaurant.

My issue is the baby amount of sweet pork they put on my sweet pork salad today. It all depends on who you get making your food I notice. I’ve had a nice amount by some people and twice now I watch them pick a tweezers amount and then take out some from the salad. Talk about skimpy! I can hardly find the pork in there. Just a bunch of lettuce and beans. I even asked for more and I’d pay for it and she didn’t add any more!

Busy place as usual, but staff was smiling and energetic despite that.
