This place was great. It is a whole process, take your time and enjoy it. The food, service, and ambience were all very enjoyable.
My husband took me here for my birthday dinner last night. The atmosphere is stunning, the service is amazing, and the food is incredible! They had live music, and the musician gave me a small gift for my birthday! They also gave me a complimentary dessert with a candle etc.I will be coming back for tea on Wednesday! :)
Great atmosphere- not rushed- traditional feel- great food! Mackenzies pastries the best- great service Gilles
As I posted on Instagram and Facebook, my mother-in-law and I were treated like royalty. The service was amazing and the food was scrumptious. Kudos! to the maitre d, Nick, our server, Robert, and our chef, Dillan. This was our first time to visit and we were greatly impressed. We will, definitely, be back!
The high tea is wonderful fun. The tea is lovely. The food is amazing. It is a beautiful place. We had the best time.
Excellent service and delicious food. Wonderful setting as well.
Can't understand why this place isn't booked solid. Group of 3 couples, and everyone had a great meal and a great time. Service was impeccable. Well worth the visit.
My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. The food, the wine selection, the wait staff and the live entertainment were all amazing. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat.
My wife and I decided on Le Coq d'Or for our anniversary this past month. Our initial feeling of excitement was taken back a little upon our arrival the condition of the exterior of the building; the building itself is in need of a little T.L.C. There are cracks to be filled, paint missing, dirt to be cleaned and cob webs to be swept up. However, the landscape was amazing and really allowed for some good photos. Upon entering the building, the feeling is a little more positive. You enter a huge and open reception hall with gorgeous fixtures and paintings. It's almost like you stepped foot into France. That being said, you don't get the impression that there is a restaurant inside when you first walk in. There is a small sign that points you the way into the restaurant and a small door you enter that takes you right into the dining area. There is no immediate reception area and when my wife and I walked in their wasn't a soul to be found. We stood and waited awkwardly for approximate 2 minutes before Maitre D walked out. The Maitre D was exceptional and knowledgeable, but was unfortunately the only person working the front of house. So after more guests had arrived and it began to get busier, he could not provide the attention that each table deserved. The wine selection was abundant, my wife and I decided on a local Cabernet that was to die for. The Escargot was a little bland, I found myself pouring every ounce of garlic butter I could onto the meat in order to get some sort of flavor. The soup of the day (Fish Chowder) was flavorful not overly robust with that fishy taste which I appreciated. The dill sauce on top complimented the chowder very well, although I would've loved a little more. My main entree (rack of lamb) lacked any sort of seasoning and was cold upon arrival. I found myself having to scrape every bit of blackberry sauce off the plate in attempt to add flavor to the meat. The sauce was however not the shining knight of the entree either and I found myself running for the potatoes after every bite. The mint lavender potatoes were delicious and not overpowering as one might think. The vegetables that accompanied the dish were under also lacked any seasoning and were under cooked. For desert I had the Tiramisu and I found it to be rather delicious! I would have asked enjoyed a little more espresso flavor, but overall I really enjoyed it. Taking everything into consideration it was a nice evening and I still really enjoyed the night with my wife. However, at the price point I was expecting a lot more with less mistakes. I would have happier going to a local restaurant for a cheaper dinner and would have experienced better food. It seems that Le Coq d'Or is trying really hard to be a 5 Star French restaurant, but they are lacking some of the basics. I would still suggest people go and experience this elegant place once, but there will be no need for a return visit from me.
Absolutely sensational food. I don't know that I have ever had food that was prepared as perfectly as here. Every course was a masterpiece of flavors and textures. The service was exceptional; we felt like royalty.

This was a wonderfully elegant and delightful experience. Everything was beautiful and delicious! We also enjoyed taking a stroll around the lovely gardens afterwards and visiting the gift shop.
My beet salad was delicious. My husband's filet mignon was the most tender he has ever had. Unfortunately, my risotto, while it smelled and tasted good initially, it had too much butter that it pooled in the bowl and ended up just greasy. I understand that the first and last ingredient in much restaurant food is butter, but restraint would have been better. The entertainer was delightful.
The entry was light and bright, but the dining area was really dark and dreary. It was nice and quiet so conversation was easy. Staff was professional and attentive but did argue some with my wife and son when they stated their steaks were more on the rare side than they cared for and wanted to have them cooked a bit more.
Unquestionably the BEST bread pudding we've ever had! (... and we've had a lot; and Susie makes a killer bread pudding with hard sauce; but this was out of this world.) Oh, and our appetizers and main courses were superb - great flavors and cooked perfectly. Excellent selection of wines too.
We were the only people in the restaurant for most of our dinner. One other couple was there for a short time. The escargot was not as flavorful as we have had in the past. The desserts were outstanding, but the other food was fair and not at the level we expected. We felt our waiter was outstanding, very attentive and enjoyable to talk to.
