French dip was very good.
I haven't been to Trudy's Place in quite a while, but was in Boise visiting my parents and decided to make the drive up Mores Creek. My Dad had a Burger and I had the Reuben. Both were excellent and the service was great. Got a slice of huckleberry cheesecake and carrot cake to-go, so the great experience continued at home. Glad to see a fellow East & Boise Allum doing great things.

Dry Burgers and Disappointing Drinks at This Casual Spot
I dropped $25 here on burgers, fries, and a mimosa, expecting a solid meal, but it was a letdown from start to finish. The lettuce on all our burgers had noticeable brown spots, making it inedible—we had to pick it off entirely. The patties were overcooked to the point of being bone-dry, with zero fat or juiciness left; they tasted like they'd been sitting out under a heat lamp for too long.
The fries were average at best, but the real head-scratcher was the mimosa. It came in a massive 16oz glass that was basically just orange juice with perhaps a splash of champagne if I was lucky—it was like drinking straight OJ with a faint bubbly afterthought. Not what I ordered at all!
Service was okay, nothing standout, but the pie menu was oddly confusing, with unclear descriptions and options that didn't make much sense. Overall, for the price, this place needs to up its game on freshness and execution. 2/5 stars—skip it unless you're desperate for a quick bite.
Best burger I've ever had! I can't find anything close to it in the treasure valley. The ranch was definitely homemade and fantastic. The soup of the day when I visited was turkey soup and it was delicious. The broth was very rich. And to finish the meal, the huckleberry cheesecake was the best I've ever had. We will be back.

Best pie in the mountains. Food is generally outstanding here. I especially like the Ruben with house made corn beef and the perfect amount of sauerkraut. The chili was awesome. However, we did not care for the beef and noodle soup.

Love the cabin style atmisphere and lovely staff. Professional, friendly, attentive, but not hovering. Food was good with reasonable prices. Would recommend the purchase of smaller chili bowls or increase the serving size. Half bowl of chili just makes you feel like you only got half a bowl, regardless of serving size. The amount was just enough too feel comfortable but if it were all I was eating, i might ask for two bowls. The music in the background is a nice touch.

There was a large group being served when we walked in and we were ignored by all for at least 10 minutes until I asked if we should go somewhere else. Found our own table ordered crispy chicken salad that had old lettuce and brown slimy mushrooms. Chicken was good and ranch dressing. I’ve always liked the fries here as well.
Very disappointed in the chocolate cream pie. Slimy and gelatinous like it was also expired. Would not recommend. Maybe not being a local was a factor. Other salads looked pretty good. Will probably not come back unless I have to when in the area.

We researched who had the best pie in the Treasure Valley. Trudy’s was listed at 2nd or 3rd depending on the reviews. So we took a drive to get pie. Server was decent and helpful. We got the biscuits and gravy and cherry and apple pie. They were. out of apple so did the mixed fruit. The biscuits and gravy were great. They should get great reviews of the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were large and fluffy and gravy tasted homemade. The pies, different story. Mine was a soup with a mystery soggy something in it. And the cherry should have been called almond cherry pie. Too much almond extract. Wife wanted to leave the pies but I don’t like food waste. Bought some ice cream and will make a milkshake out of them. I have to find the mystery substance because I think I accidentally stuck it with the rest of the pie. 5 stars for the biscuits and gravy. 1 star for the pies.
