We were welcomed by Brittany as soon as we came through the door. She was very friendly and attentive. We are from Canada and the service was great. The food was yummy, especially the steak sandwich. The bread pudding was huge as we're the nachos. The atmosphere was very relaxing. This is a little out of the way place I would recommend to anyone

If you go there on Wednesday or Thursday, the only menus you can order are sandwiches and burgers. I ordered pulled pork sandwich. The pork smelled old oxidized fat. The meat seems to be cooked several days ago and made into a sandwich. Their cuttilaries were not clean and there are lots of flies in the balcony.

Such a fun place - and the food is excellent! We shared a reuben sandwich the size of two sandwiches, added clam chowder, a side of onion rings along with the fries, and topped it off with huckleberry bread pudding,
The Reuben sandwich featured marble Rye and all the fixings, including Pit smoked corned beef, and was absolutely delicious. A highlight was also the Onion rings that were perfectly crisp, and I had them with blue cheese dip. The clam was a delicious surprise, and the best I've had for a while, Chock full of clam and potato.
But what's stole the show had to be the dessert. Do yourself a favor and make room for this, If you can, at the end of the meal, A huckleberry bread pudding with huckleberry ice cream, huckleberries and caramel drizzled over the top. The play of the different flavors is just mind-blowing. We finished the entire thing even though we were pretty stuffed before it arrived.
The snake pit has always had interesting and delicious food anytime I've ever come here. It's a wonderful place, and I hope you try it if you're in the area - or make it the destination if you're even close.

The place started in 1830 and it appears that some details have not been touched since then.... The step going up to the place had hand rails with nails and screws sticking out... The food was really delicious. Large portions and well seasoned. While sitting at a table, a picture fell off the wall/ceiling and glass shattered everywhere. We Ubered out there from Coeur d'Alene but once we were there we couldn't get cell service unless you stood out on the back deck. The place had wifi but would not share the service with their guest... Since we couldn't get service, we had to beg the staff to help us with the wifi connection. They were very diligent about not giving it out... But man we were stuck with no way to get back... I would suggest this place because the food is good but the staff and atmosphere could use aj updated. The counter and tables were sticky from just being old....

Stopped off for a quick bite and beer after a bike ride. We were dirty and ready for a cool place to rest. Food was good and there was plenty of it. Drinks were as ordered and yummy! Service was awesome! Love were I live!
See ya again, soon!

We've been using the Snake Pit as a destination bike ride from Harrison for 5ish years now with our boys, riding 32 miles each way on the trail of the CDAs.
It's never been about the food, and when asked, I would tell people the food is mediocre. it was always about the experience, and a fun historical location.
However, The Snake Pit is under new ownership and it really shows.
Atmosphere: Both the outside and inside have been spruced up. The inside is noticeably cleaner, with better table spacing. The outside has flowers and plants adorning the 2nd level, making it far more attractive now. They've added to signage, redone the menus, and it's all a nice upgrade. It's a work in progress, and I hope to see continued improvements... the men's bathroom definitely needs some work. Also, fly traps outside would be nice, though we really enjoyed eating outside in the full shade thanks to their large shade cover on the deck.
Food: The food was greatly improved as well. There are more menu options, and the food is just tastier. Pictured here are the steak sandwich with chimichurri, and the brisket cheese sandwich (order this!). I ordered jalapeno jam as a 1.50 add on and it was disappointing. It came out in a small cup and looked nothing like jam, in fact it looked just like sliced jalapenos. Upon tasting it was... sliced jalapenos, sweetened. I asked for a replacement as I thought it was a mistake, but received the same thing again. Also, I pictured a nice pile of chimichurri on my steak sandwich, but it was scarce. Oh well. The steak was tender and flavorful, the tots had a fantastic crunch, the brisket had a great smoke flavor and tenderness to it. Overall the food is a big improvement, tastier, more options, and I can now say it's GOOD!
Service: This blew our socks off. The service wasn't bad before, but we arrived hot sweaty and thirsty, ordering Arnold palmers all around. I think I drank 5-6 of them, the refills just kept coming, and swiftly. This was one of the best restaurant services I've ever experienced, and one of the rare times I fell a great tip was very justified. Great work!
Judging from the standpoint of eating here once annually for 5 years, The Snake Pit is the best it's ever been in our experience, and I can finally recommend it as a solid restaurant stop for anyone.
Congratulations on revitalizing this historic restaurant new owners! I wish you many great years loving on this historic restaurant.

They got rid of idaho nachos. Our group, the wait staff and the table next to us all commented on wanting them back.

Pretty old school, but this place has been open since the 1890s. Long wait, but busy weekend. Staff was funny and attentive. I dare say the best tator tots I've ever had!!

I ordered brisket, the wife ordered fish and chips, we had an adult beverage each, and dessert to go. Pricing was good, ambiance with the old rustic cabin feel made this a must visit. The smells were awesome with BBQ drifting through the air.
