My daughter wanted this place for her birthday which is an unusual choice for us usually but she has went here quite a few times with her grandma. I have to say, I was surprised, prices were cheap, they have a room in the back with pool and darts which was fun, service was amazing and fast and then to top it off, one of the best burgers I have ever tried. Definitely did not disappoint. We had family come who had never been there also and they were impressed as well. Over all, great experience. Thank you Effie’s.

Shaq burger ain't got nothing on this baddie. 8/10 would eat here again. I slammed 2/3 of that thing and some fries and had the rest for dinner the next night. The bun is phenomenal bread.

I'm giving it 2 stars mainly for the food. I first (and last) went here as a college kid in '84; we'd seen it on a TV news magazine show like 20/20 or similar, and when we found ourselves travelling through Lewiston decided to give it a shot. All that I really recall was that we enjoyed it. Fast forward - the diner doesn't seem to have changed, literally. Some of my friends' man caves are better suited for burger joints. The burgers where "huge", meaning that the bun was huge but basically you have a quarter pounder stretched across 80% of the bun. No way to get medium rare because at that thickness, the only way to cook it is 10 seconds on the fryer then flip into the bun. $22 was a ridiculous price for a ton of bread and a bit of burger. Topping options were decent. The woman working the front was fantastic

Amazing customer service. Stopped by because I remember the massive burgers when my parents took me here 25 year ago. The burgers are still massive. Staff was extremely friendly. Food was amazing. 10/10

It hard to post a bad review on a place you have fond memories of growing up around and enjoying the original owner foods.
I get to the point that the interior is outdated and worn out, no handicap access really but that seen to a problem around here so that not the point.
The food was over cooked and lack flavor the drinks need help as well.
But when you walk into effie you not the poor building need some care and cleaning.
Don't get me wrong I will always love effie but it a shadow what it could be and what it was with some time and love put back into this place. I recommend the new owners to take a step back and look at the place and remember why they wanted to run the place. And don't let be forgotten like other places in valley had been.

I tried a simple Effie 1/2 lbs and it was anything but simple. The massive size, the bun, down to a very light horse radish I believe? That plus some curly fries and a fry sauce only ran me $10.

The bun is very airy/fluffy, with an incredible taste with a butter taste to it. All the toppings were fresh and delicious, and as stated previously, there's a little flair to it with a very mild horse radish sauce. Finally the patty, while not out of this world, it has that local cooked taste, like a fair burger or a Hudson's patty but nestled in an incredible sandwich.

Curly fries were pretty damn good too.

Just one young fella back in the kitchen who was killing it. Don't know if he's the only cook but he's a damn good one.

Environment is a little retro, I'd say mid 80s NW.

All in all, absolutely loved it, that classic hole in the wall burger shop that will probably be haunting my dreams when I'm hungry for burgers. Please give them your business.

This was our first visit to this locally iconic burger spot. But definitely not our last.
The ambiance was pure late 50s-early 60s diner, not in a fake "American Graffiti" or any other sort of ostentatious BS. Just a simple burger spot with a very simple menu. Sort of like In-N-Out or Five Guys. They do a few menu items, do them well, and that's the deal. ❤️

The service was terrific. Our waitress wasn't busy when we came in, but she was working alone, running the register, bussing tables, and seating new guests. Four groups came in behind us, and I saw no perceptible difference in the excellent level of service we had to start with.

Now, the food... ?

DO NOT order a whole burger for yourself, unless you're starving and have a HUGE appetite. I can eat a Double-Double and fries at In-N-Out no problem. Same at Five Guys. This place serves hand-patted burgers that probably weigh 3/4 of a pound, on a delicious, light fluffy bun that is 8" in diameter. Like I said, don't order the "whole", get the half.

There's a great family vibe, but there's also premium beer on tap and in the container for sale. The entire establishment was clean as a pin. I can give no higher praise.

Parking: Plenty of parking on the street, especially for dinner. All the adjoining businesses are closed for the day at 1700 hrs., and there's ~20 parking spaces in front of the restaurant.

Wheelchair accessibility: Sidewalk level entryway, wide aisles, and ample seating area for wheelchairs.

This truly is a hidden gem. For anyone that hasn't gone to have an Effie burger you are truly missing out. The burger is the size of a dinner plate. One burger can easily feed 4 people. And exactly what we did!
