Steak melted in your mouth, but the lobster tail was a disappointment. $56 and it was literally 4 bites and gone. Tiny little thing. Tasted great but for what you get it is overpriced. All in all, great tasting food.

We love this place! Dine here everytime we come up to McCall. Great food from an extensive menu; really good, friendly, attentive service; spectacular views of the lake. Highly recommend.

Update: Tom, we would love to see positive changes made! We will give a shot again soon. Thank you for listening.I hate to hate this place. The most money I have ever paid for consistently bad food, I am actually ashamed to say I have gone back. Couldn’t cook a steak properly to save their lives any of the 3 times we have gone. The menu is very limited, the dessert menu is awful (literally just put some normal damn dessert on here please) and the steaks aren’t even good cuts (when the fat on a steak tastes bad, you need better beef). We moved to McCall and wanted a good steakhouse to go enjoy someone else running the grill and this place just falls flat on their face. Would love to see someone who knows how to run a steakhouse, get in here and make some huge changes.

Lovely place to have dinner. If you can get a seat next to the window so you can take in the view of the lake. Tables and chairs are very comfortable to tuck in to and enjoy dinner and drinks with your loved one. Jordan was amazing! She was hugely attentive and accommodating! So much fun to chat with as we went along in our dinner adventure. At the end of the night she remembered that we had two poodles we were taking our leftover steaks home to as a special treat. She drew the cutest poodle on our take out box! Such a beautiful touch! We will be back! Thank you Jordan for being so fantastic!!!!

I am writing this review in an effort to foster a change. I have eaten here many times. Not once has the experience been smooth. Now, the ambiance of this restaurant is unbelievable. The views are fantastic, roaring fireplace in the wintertime, great bar. The staff are nice and ready to help. However, the food is sooo disappointing. They have a very limited menu in all categories. Unfulfilling appetizers, except for the Pork Belly. As a Steakhouse, their "Steaks" are pitiful. The chef cannot get the temp right at all, ever! The cut of steak is terrible, very fatty, does not at all seem to be a prime cut AND has a lackluster flavor. As well as asking for all of the money! VERY EXPENSIVE! For meh food in all categories. I do not mind paying for a fine meal, but I expect a fine meal. Even the desert selection is awful. All kinds of weird selections and not one traditional desert or even something creatively fun. Some kind of European selection of ick. I always say that I will never go back, but I do because of the ambiance and the bar. It is fantastic. But I am always leaving irritated and feeling robbed for a 300 plus dollar meal. I mean the menu is just awful in its selection and a horrible representation of central Idaho. It is a foo-foo menu with exorbitant pricing. And it one of the worst and most expensive steakhouses I have ever been into.

For the pricing one should expect at the very least table clothes instead of place mats and steak knifes younger than 20 years old and dull as heck. For hand cut and 30 day aged steaks I have too wonder. Other than that it was just below average for identifying as a high end eatery.

One of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had in a long time. For a restaurant of this caliber and price range, we expect better. To begin with, we were seated promptly and served water. It was then 15 or 20 minutes before we saw a server again to order a cocktail. Another 15 minutes before we got our drinks and were told about specials, which we had to prompt our server for. Once we finally ordered it didn't take an inordinate amount of time, and having an amuse-bouche as well as palate cleanser was a nice touch. However, when our dinner arrived it was cold, all except for the steak. Nothing else on my plate was edible. Our server would not know this however, as we never saw him again. We did flag down another server and let them know, but at that point I was 1/2 way done with my steak, which is the only thing I ate. They did bring some hot mashed potatoes, but we still never saw our server. The manager was walking by and we told her about it, she said she was aware of the situation. That's it, no apology, or offer of discount, nothing. Our server finally came around and asked if we wanted dessert, which we did order to go. No mention of the cold food. When the bill came they charged the entire $70.00 for my dinner and charged for dessert. It was quite unbelievable that a place of this level would do that. I'm still shocked. I've eaten in 5 start restaurants all over the world and never been treated like that. Needless to say, we will not be back. They should do better, it's a simple gesture to apologize and to make it right.

The food and wine was amazing! I wasn't too impressed with my server, we ordered Groth wine which is a Cabernet and he said Sauvignon Blanc which I didn't hear at first. So we let the server giving us water know to make sure we got the right one. Our server came back and said “you said Sauvignon Blanc” to which I replied “yes but Groth is a Cabernet and I didn't hear you.” When he brought us our wine he said the Groth is also good in the Sauvignon Blanc. I didn't say anything and knew he had no reason to argue with me about a wine. But other than that the food and all the other servers were amazing!!!

Dining here has gone drastically down hill. Staff and management need training in hospitality and service. Over cooked fish and undercooked rack of lamb. My entire dinner party was done with their meal and waiting for the staff to bring out now well done and overcooked Rack lamb. I left hungry and disappointed. I will not dine here again.

If you are in McCall and you are looking for a tastey steak this is the place. It is not the cheapest place in town but it is worth every penny.

Four of us celebrated birthdays at the Narrows and while the experience overall was good, I'm not sure the value was quite what we were hoping. We went in the off-season and were one of two tables the entire 2 hours. The view was beautiful and service was excellent. Three of us ordered steaks and if you like steak, they do have a wide variety of options. Our fourth ordered the scallops and was disappointed - he said they were bland and tasted “off”. The pricing is quite high and we didn't feel it appropriately reflected the quality of the food, especially the sides. I have no problem splurging and spending $600 for a good meal, but we walked away a little disappointed. It is convenient that it's located right there in the lodge, but next time we stay at the Shore Lodge we might look for something in town instead.
