The blooming onion was amazing! Our burgers were perfect and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
They were out of most of their steaks when we came, but it was just before they were closing. Service was amazing and the food tasted great!

Awesome Dinner for my wife’s late birthday. Great food and very nice staff.
We visited DHC Steakhouse on 8/10/23. It was the WORST experience I have EVER had at a restaurant. We walked in and had no idea of whether we were to sit down or wait for a hostess - we had to ask. As we picked a seat, we were appauled that it was advertized as a $$$ restaraunt as it looked like an old Arby's and had curtains way too short for the windows - shoddy decor. We waited a VERY long time for a waitress to serve us. We almost left and then she came at that very moment so we stayed. She kept forgetting to bring things we requested. While we were waiting far too long for our food, the couple next to us left in a huff, probably experiencing the same awful service. When we got our food, well over an hour later, it was HORRIBLE!!!! Salty, greasy, should have been white gravy, but it was brown. I had had it. I rarely complain and finally asked for a manager, who was not there. They called her and she would not let them comp the HORRIBLE meal that we couldn't even eat. They only offered 15% off and when out of pure exhaustion I resigned to pay for this horrible experience, she didn't even take the 15% off and had to do it again!!! What in the WORLD??? NOW, if that was not enough, I have just discovered that I have been charged twice for that horrible experience and I can't even get a hold of that restaurant!!! The 2 phone numbers online say restricted or give that disconnected tone. I was going to skip the bad review even though I was very tempted until I got this bit of frustration today. DON'T BELIEVE ANY GOOD REVIEW! They "pay" people to leave a review by saying they can have a free dessert. No one deserves the poor quality of food and service of this place!
The food was great!!! Great service (Kylie) Would definetly come again! Had a great experience at this fine establishment!!
So good. Great family doing a great job with homemade healthy food and beef. The ribeye was tasty and the hamburger is lean and delicious. I like knowing where my meat comes from. They are so helpful and knowledgeable here. Sides are great and service is top notch. Not expensive compared to Boise or Salt Lake and worth the money for sure!
If you are looking for a steak dinner, this is a great place to stop in Montpelier. The beef is raised by the family and is a standout against even big city restaurants. We loved the big butterfly shrimp as well. Good salads, most items made in-house. The owner Mom and daughters work there, too. Friendly, good service, excellent steaks and beef!
On a road trip from Southern California, my husband and I stopped in Montpelier in the late afternoon for an overnight stay. It was cold, windy, with a lite sprinkling of snow but we wanted to get outdoors after being in the car most of the day. We headed out for a walk to explore what was in this small town, hoping to also find a nice place for dinner. By the time we came upon the Cattleman's Restaurant, we were cold, hungry and so happy to find a nice restaurant in the midst of fast food places. We were the first guests for the evening and had the pleasure of meeting, not just a friendly server, but also the chef, both of whom treated us like we were guests in their home. While there are restaurants in Southern California that could outshine Cattlemen's in food and service, we thoroughly enjoyed being at a quality restaurant with good food and service, in a small town of just 2600 residents. The interior is well-done and fitting for a quality steakhouse, including the collection of well-worn boots that were on display. Our server was friendly and a pleasure to talk with, the chef came out several times to inquire about the food and, also, showed up with some extra items for us to enjoy. Our food was far superior to anything else available in town...the fried onion was the best we've ever had and the salad, steak, potatoes and gravy and brownies for dessert were all delicious. We took leftovers with us to enjoy later and left feeling happy and well-fed. As small business owners, we recognize how difficult it must be to have a quality restaurant in such a small town. We're grateful they were there when we needed them and wish them all the best going forward.
The cook Jeff sucked service was horrible metal chipped hot cups tasted like shoe leather. Never again don't recommend

The meat was excellent, and justifies the prices, barely, which are more like you’d see in the big city. Service was not snappy, but was very kind and attentive and got everything right. The sides need a little more attention to detail—salad and garlic bread were just average. It’s tough running a restaurant in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, so you have to kind of keep that in mind. Still better than whatever else you’ll find here, and I’ve been visiting the area for twenty years now.
Our experience When we entered the establishment we were greeted with what we don't have. After a lengthy wait we finally got to order, another wait for salad {dressing optional}. After waiting an hour we got our meals, corn on cob was cold, french fries looked and tasted like left overs, and cold, steak was nothing but gristle, couldn't even cut it, and cold. Not even an offer of garlic toast. This place needs to be shut down. Will never try again, save your money.
This is one of the very few dining options in Montpelier, ID. Being in the heart of ranching country and with locally sourced beef, this place might be good on your visit. We got glimpses of what could be. Sadly, our meal was mediocre and only one waitress was serving the crowd that grew while we were there. She was a little overwhelmed and didn’t seem to know the food options very well. Stay with burgers (or maybe steak) and I think you’ll be okay. Don’t get the salad, if you can avoid it.
My burger was completely raw and the corn on the cob was shriveled and cold. We will never go again.
I'm a chef an the chefs cooked the steak to perfection!
