It's a good place. Nothing fancy but the owner seriously goes out of his way to help. Good man.

The owner here, is a downright crook. He will charge you for nights you don't stay, refuses to drop prices back to previously agreed amounts, and will randomly raise them on you. Little does he know, this is highly illegal, regardless of signed documents. Furthermore the "monthly rate" is just a compounded nightly rate. There is no 'significant discount'. If there was, 2 weeks wouldn't be nearly $1000. He also pushes cash sales to an infuriating degree, likely to try and eliminate any sort of paper trail that can incriminate him. He is actively double-profiting on rooms he charges for that guests are not actively staying in. Thats how this is illegal. Now onto the rooms themselves. There are bugs, everywhere. Benefit of the doubt there are NOT bed bugs, at least there wasn't in my room. There is mold visible in the walls where the paint has cracked, and there is a horrendous smell. The plumbing barely works and drips ALL NIGHT after a shower. The TV leaves very little to be desired as most channels don't even work.If cleanliness was close to godliness, this would be satan incarnate. The housekeeping lady is possibly the sweetest person, but the actual effort into cleaning is very minimal. The one "pro" to staying here, is probably the hottubs, but even those smell as if they haven't been properly cleaned or treated in years. The owner also badmouths anyone that leaves honest reviews such as these, like what he is doing is honest business. He runs not one, not two, but THREE businesses out of this location too, yet he puts absolutely no effort into fixing the absolute disrepair of his building. In all actuality, I'd condemn it. I can only imagine what ludicrous price he charges for his propane.Should have listened to the warnings from the locals and steered clear, very clear. Word to the wise, if this is the only place in Montpelier that has rooms, do yourself a favor and sleep in your car.

Booked a room for one night well in advance of our stay so we could attend my son's baseball tournament. Six weeks after making the reservation, the hotel contacted me saying that they were recently made aware of the tournament that weekend and since there would be more demand that weekend they were no longer interested in honoring my reservation. I was given the option of staying two nights instead of one at a much higher nightly rate than I booked, or they'd cancel my reservation. Not being interested in paying 3.5x more money than my original booking, I requested that the reservation contract we entered into be honored. They refused and emailed me saying, "It's called supply and demand . . . we do not have to honor the price" before promptly cancelling my reservation. Honoring a reservation is at the very basic level of customer service in the hotel business, and it is unfortunate that Rest Assured Inns doesn't adhere to that. For those of you that have seen the famous car rental reservation scene from Seinfeld, that is exactly the type of service to expect here.

A hotel right where we needed one and that's how we found the place via Booking after a change of plans the day before because of the wild fires elsewhere. The owner was really nice and helpful, the room itself clean but the bathtub was questionable. We enjoyed the stay and everything we needed was close by. I bought a little souvenir when checking in and that's a cool reminder of the stay here. If I were in the area, I would stay here again. Thanks for having us.

Spent $120 off season to stay here for the night. Service was great, but it was hard to get over how dirty the rooms were. The bed and sheets seemed fine but the carpet and shower had really dingy stains all over. Not the best, not the worst, but alright considering they were incredibly short staffed.

The image of the room on their website is a complete fallacy. This place smells like a goat. The rooms are dirty and luxuriously furnished with folding tables and dirty carpet. We checked in and left. There are better much better accommodations down the road.

The room smelled awful ? like wet dog, and both of us had spider bites all over the next morning when we woke up. The bed was comfy though.
