Smokesmith is a restaurant run by folks who love and care about BBQ. It you want excellent BBQ, this is the place to visit. The owners work hard and have a great attitude. The vibe of the restaurant is fun and this spot is the perfect place to watch sports on the big screen (I think we counted 7 large tv screens on our last visit). Great value at the bar and discount for paying cash as well! A few things that would help the owners and guests to more success 1) Entrance to the restaurant is awkward... seems like it should come off the parking lot (which would be an expensive remodel). Perhaps a loud "entrance this way" sign and covered walkway to the entrance would really improve the situation. 2) the ordering format is a contention of most visitors. The pass off during the ordering (meat cutter to sides person to bartender to cashier... provides service discontinuity (and opportunity for the cashier to make a mistake- we experienced this too). 3) Limited business hours (WED-SAT) can make patronizing this place a challenge. Perhaps the harder-to-prepare items offered 2 days a week, and simpler things offered other days? We want this place to flourish!!

This represents the best bbq idaho has to offer. Bland and embarrassing to serve. The food was obviously overpriced for the amount and the flavor (nonexistent). Which is what you expect eating out in northern idaho. The mac and cheese tasted like wallpaper. The brisket was stringy and dry. Took forever to chew. The servers told us "you're welcome to start your own restaurant." When we suggested something politely that would be easy for them to implement anyway. The cashier gave me the wrong change back. The bbq sauces themselves were pretty good tho. 1 star for that

We tried their brisket (5/5 stars) and pulled pork (5/5 stars) and thought that both were about as the best BBQ in Seattle, WA!! The macaroni and cheese (4/5 stars) has some Velveeta energy, but we still liked it. The beans (3/5 stars) we'd probably pass on next time and try a different side dish. We'd try this restaurant again next time we're in Sandpoint, ID!

Ordered the platter for 2 and enjoyed being able to try the brisket, pulled pork, and German sausage all of which were incredible. The sides of potato salad, Mac & cheese, coleslaw, beans and corn bread were all flavorful and delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and the environment was relaxing and chill. We were very pleased with our experience and enjoyed getting to eat great BBQ! Highly recommend

Really disappointing.....as a real bbq connoisseur, when I call to get take out and they don't answer their phone 5+ times, tried the website I can't pre order online due to website malfunctions.....when I finally get them to answer they told me just come in they are super busy right now, She didn't say that I could order ahead for takeout or anything, she said "just come in and order" multiple times.....very disappointing not even the best barbeque at 5:30pm but our only choice in Sandpoint, what really pissed me off is when she said BYE........and hung up!!!!Sincerely, Sandpoint local and business owner of 18 years# The E-Myth Revistied(Must read!!!)
