Extremely Disappointed with Café Rio in Rexburg. I wouldn't give any stars if that was possible.
I am absolutely furious with the service I received here. I ordered online and arrived on time, only to stand there watching my food sit on the prep table for over 15 minutes while multiple staff members walked around and ignored it. They were not short-staffed — they just didn’t care. By the time someone finally decided to assemble my order, everything was completely cold.
To make matters worse, I paid for chips and queso and was given maybe a quarter of a bag of chips — a total joke for what I was charged. After waiting over 30 minutes from the time I ordered, I ended up with a cold, disappointing meal that was clearly neglected.
There’s absolutely no excuse for this kind of service. I’ve eaten at other Café Rio locations that take pride in their food and customer experience, but this Rexburg location was lazy, careless, and disrespectful of customers’ time and money.
I was on my way to a function so I didn't have time to wait for them to remake my meal and I didn't want to have it made by someone who gave such a lack of care the first time.
I will not be returning, and I hope management takes a serious look at what’s happening behind that counter, because it’s unacceptable.

I have been eating at Cafe Rio since I was younger and the customer service has always been a make or break for their locations. At this location, it is a make. Joe in particular was fast, friendly and understanding. I won't be the first to say that I am not the easiest customer. However, this location truly puts the customer first and wants to do so in a timely manner. Their food is not going to knock your socks off but they will deliver good food woth great customer service. The atmosphere they make is great, but the seating is sub par. Definitely a place I would suggest!

I ordered a sweet port burrito and it was half the size as it usually is. They didn’t add nearly as much rice and beans and when we asked a little more the worker gave me a dirty look when it was clearly a small amount. They barely gave me any of the lettuce or tomatillo when usually they put twice as much as we got this time. Disappointing.

The food was good, the staff was great, but its really loud as it is connected to other food places. Almost a small cafeteria vibe. Lots of people and lots of noise. We were happy to take our food to go.

I swear I’m one of Café Rio’s biggest fans… I usually eat here at least once a week! But yesterday’s delivery order was the worst I’ve ever had from them. The lettuce and chicken were fine, but the guacamole was completely brown and the rice was mushy. Neither should have been served to anyone, and belonged in the garbage… not my food. If I end up sick, I know why. I’m really disappointed, and as one of their most loyal customers, I honestly feel like they might have lost me.
The Cafe Rio in Rexburg has been terrified for quite some time. When we were there last, they had run out of several items and we had to wait way too long even after we had ordered it on the app. It was not ready when we got there and we waited for at least 20 more minutes. Our order was not correct and the fact that we had to wait for so long was unacceptable. I will never go back.

It was terrible. Staff back talk to you and they had one person working the counter with a giant line. They also ran out of straws and when I asked they back talked me and said “they can’t find the key to the basement” I’m sorry part of being a restaurant is serving drinks and they failed on that. My burrito was not right at all as well. The staff also don’t know the menu. When asked about the mint limeade they were clueless.

Restaurantji Recommends
Pretty standard cafe Rio chain! We had a family with us who only spoke Japanese and the staff were patient and nice while ordering. The song choices were fire as well—I can’t remember the last time I heard not one but two stray kids songs play on restaurant speakers, not to mention Kpop Demon Hunters songs! Whoever had that aux is goated. The food itself was as expected, nothing amazing but pretty good.

Overall 5 stars because I love their food. There have been a couple times where I was given less of the ingredients I asked for in my tacos, but the food is still amazing. It's a cozy atmosphere to eat at, but the chairs are really uncomfortable. Overall I love eating here, but the service isn't the best.

I did a web order at 11:00 am that's when they open so you'd think everything would be fresh but that was not the case,the beans looked like yesterday's beans,the vegetables looked old and withered and didn't have the appearance of being freshly sauteed cause I'm a chef by trade so I know what they should look like,they gave me 5 or 6 very thin very small pieces of chicken.I went back to the store to show them and they looked at me like they couldn't see what I was talking about like they saw nothing wrong with the bowl,then the guy I was talking to had the nerve to say to me that that's how the veges look when they fried and I told him not to patronize me cause I was a chef,they proceeded to ask if I wanted another bowl and I said no cause I had seen the line as I walked to the register and it was a mess so I didn't want anything off of that line,I asked for a refund and was told they could do in store refunds on web order and that I'd have to go online to ask for the refund which further irritated me cause they received my money today but I have to wait 5 to 7 days to get a refund,I will not buy from this place again.
