My husband & I decided to give Gringos a try again since it had new owners. It was worse than the previous owners. I am not used to dry stringy beef in my Enchiladas, which I had with the previous owners, I am used to ground hamburger, and it is in a sauce & why we never went back. I asked the waitress today if there was any sauce and she said no after asking, so I asked if I could get sauce, she said yes, NO SAUCE, and the food was luke warm that was what was the worst! We will not be going back! WE were there at 11:00 probably the first there, we wondered if it was even open but saw the lights. It seemed to take longer than it should have as well since we were the first ones there as well.

We aren't from Rexburg and when we do go there Gringos is always where we pick to eat. I took my family of 7 in today mind you my kids are 11 and younger. I noticed its under new ownership but I also noticed as I got my check and when I was leaving on the door its 22% gratuity for 7+ wow! If I would have noticed sooner I would have left so that's my fault and I full understand inflation but 22% come on. When most places are 8+ at 18%. If you truly believe that's a reasonable % for a single family coming in you'll never be successful and I hope you pay your employees very well or you'll definitely have a major turnover because that much most people won't leave anything extra. Not impressed at all and will not be coming back.

4/12/2024 under New Management.Upon entry, it smelled like dirty fish mop water. It smelled the same in our booth. My nose got used to it but my wife did not.Workers were kind. Best part about that experience.Salsa tasted like the mop water smelled, possibly not the salsa's fault. Chips were fine.Plates were brought out and dirty (probably only used the hot water and pressure machine) and the waitress's wet (greasy?) fingerprint was left on the top plate as she handed it to me with thumb on the top... Got a new plate and it wasn't a ton better but at least I couldn't see a fingerprint.Food came out, and tasted like coconut oil... And nothing else. Unfortunately, I felt as though I ate a suppository. I still have that taste in my mouth but on the bright side, at least I won't have an appetite for the next couple hours... Did I mention I was only able to eat 4 bites? Sad day.______2023WHAT HAPPENED?!10 months ago, I gave this place 5 stars. Thought it was the best. I got the Gordo Tacos then and loved it... 10/10 the next time too. The following time it took forreeever, but at least tasted really good. However, my wife's food was tiny and not worth its price in flavor or quantity. This time, it took longer, and on my Gordo taco, I got almost no meat and no sauce. It was essentially a dry, lettuce filled, fry bread. $10 was too much for that garbage. My wife and I both left and realized we both had the same question on our minds: "Is Gringo's ready to go out of business?"

Decent Mexican food restaurant. The server was very friendly and fast service. She kept the chips and salsa coming the entire meal. Always nice to have a meal out with my wife and get friendly service with a smile.

For the Gringos: Most options are classic American Mexican food. Mostly savory and not complex in flavor or aroma. They also mislabel food. When they say "beans" they mean "refried beans." Disappointed since I was hoping for black beans. Large plates with deceiving portion sizes. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone besides the picky family from Texas or Arizona.

Very, very poor service, restaurant is very empty and food lack of flavor as well service is slow as a slug. Hopefully the new owners can help with the situation but I don’t see to much hope and future. I cannot write or select anything due that their manu is long and inconsistent.

The service is great, the employees are all super friendly and hard working. Even when it's super busy food doesn't take too long to come out. It is all pretty good food, slightly more expensive but not too ridiculous. All of the decorations are also pretty cool to look at with each booth/table having something to look at.

After living in Rexburg for quite a few years, I never had the urge to go to Gringo's because 1. Rexburg has a million Mexican places and 2. The reviews weren't super positive. Well today I decided to go. Unlike the other Mexican place in town, Gringo's actually gives you chips and salsa when you sit down and doesn't charge extra for them. It felt...normal! The portions were also really large- got the combination plate which is 3 items plus rice and beans. No, the rice doesn't suck, and yes the beans taste like normal beans you get at any Mexican restaurant- but they kinda smell weird. The waiter Hayden was really good at his job and deserves a shout out for being so friendly, fun and honest. I did have a stomach ache after, but it could have been because I literally stuffed myself.Have had a stomach ache the 2 times I've been here since...

It was the first time we have eaten here since the new owners have taken over. The food was so much better. Good flavor good taste and moisture. New owners were going around talking to customers on how to make things better.

Our waiter was very nice, but the food.... the food was not edible. It was absolutely terrible. I got the sweet pork tacos and I couldn't even take more than one bite of it. They took it back and the chef recommended I try the chicken tacos instead. I kid you not they brought me canned chicken on a corn tortilla. Very bland and not worth 14 dollars. The very few bites I did eat of the food, did not sit well and made me feel very un easy. I recommend you don't go here and pick some where else to eat.
