Always a. must stop when in the area...Kate is amazing. Her food, her dedication to her restaurant, her commitment to excellence, her love for all who enter. Had omelets as she was only serving breakfast that day due to closing early. Food excellent as always...especially the huckleberry cobbler with homemade ice cream. Homemade breads also. Kate does all the cooking so it may be a little slow by some standards. Well worth the wait.
I ate here late last summer and returned again this year, both times having camped the night before at the beautiful Spring Bar forest campground about ten miles up the Salmon River. I sat at the counter both times and enjoyed watching the locals. Breakfast was great, prepared by the hardworking Kate in the kitchen. When I was departing the parking lot out back, she stepped outside and told me “ Thank you for supporting me ! “. Talk about leaving a good taste in the mouth! ?
Wonderful food and good prices! The owner really cares about serving healthy food and good portions.

We enjoyed our very tasty breakfast of biscuits and gravy at this restaurant. It’s an old style restaurant where the food is made fresh. Kate also helped us figure out a place to go to the beach close by with sand where we could take our dog to swim. She was so helpful and full of information about the area.
Outstanding Kate is great Go if you can Early is best Local jam is to die for She wouldn’t accept a tip, said that the service was part of the cost of the meal

Great place with good local dishes. Very friendly staff. Removed a star because some dishes were unavailable.

We ate at Kate's both for a late lunch and early breakfast the next day. Kate is so welcoming (we got there ten minutes before closing and it was no problem), she bakes her own hamburger buns and bread. The food was very good and the atmosphere was lovely.
Friendly people. Adequate food. We had breakfast - French toast was OK. Chicken fried steak was reported to be pretty good. Really weak coffee.
My husband and I were on a road trip and we were on our way back to Boise for our flight home and we came across Kate's Cattlehmen's restaurant. The location is in a very picturesque valley on a lovely drive. I ordered a crispy chicken wrap with onion petals and my husband ordered grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes, and tater tots. The food was surprisingly good. The grilled cheese had both white and yellow American cheese. The chicken was tender and moist. If you're in the area, try it out.
Sign says open every day, 5AM. LIES! I went Monday Sept 6 at 3pm, closed. Tuesday Sept 7 10AM, closed. Wednesday Sept 8 6AM, closed. No other signs posted anywhere, nothing posted on their Facebook page. They clearly don't care about customers wasting their time.
Great home style cookin’. Food tastes fresh, servers are great. Our kids also loved the food. Great place to stop if you are in town!
