Always a. must stop when in the area...Kate is amazing. Her food, her dedication to her restaurant, her commitment to excellence, her love for all who enter. Had omelets as she was only serving breakfast that day due to closing early. Food excellent as always...especially the huckleberry cobbler with homemade ice cream. Homemade breads also. Kate does all the cooking so it may be a little slow by some standards. Well worth the wait.

I ate here late last summer and returned again this year, both times having camped the night before at the beautiful Spring Bar forest campground about ten miles up the Salmon River. I sat at the counter both times and enjoyed watching the locals. Breakfast was great, prepared by the hardworking Kate in the kitchen. When I was departing the parking lot out back, she stepped outside and told me “ Thank you for supporting me ! “. Talk about leaving a good taste in the mouth! ?

We enjoyed our very tasty breakfast of biscuits and gravy at this restaurant. It’s an old style restaurant where the food is made fresh. Kate also helped us figure out a place to go to the beach close by with sand where we could take our dog to swim. She was so helpful and full of information about the area.

We went to Hells Canyon & stopped on our way back to Boise. Server was a hoot but I could see she wouldn't take any crap. Be kind & you get repaid. They were pretty busy & we were all happy with our food. Was served in a decent time which made us happy because we had dogs in the vehicles. It was fairly early so they were fine! I will stop again. Thank you so much! BTW there was 8 of us & it all came out at the same time.

Food was fantastic but service was interesting. My sister and I just got done camping (we love Riggins) so we thought it would be great to get a meal before our drive back home to North Idaho. So we stop in and were directed to a table for breakfast. Ok great! The lady throws items onto the table. Ok, maybe she is having a bad day. We'll just move past the rudeness because we had a great time camping. New customers arrive and every single one of them were greeted with a warm welcome but for some reason we were not. Items were practically tossed onto table including plates and drink cups. We were polite and had easy food orders. If I wanted treated like that, I should have stayed at work this week. The food was great though!!

For a diner, they certainly don't seem overly eager to feed us. With all the five star reviews, I'm thinking this will be a place "where everyone knows your name and they're always glad you came"...you know the place. It's exactly like that, but our waitress seems to despise the fact that we ordered food and seemingly knows us by names you only utter under your breath. "We're really busy," must be the diner's slogan. We've heard her reiterate this mantra for each table. "Can I have extra cheese?" "You get what you get!" "I'll have the number 5." "No you won't. We're too busy to make pancakes. You can have the number 2." Our waitress is so ornery, it's actually kind of funny. It appears that she's not only annoyed by her customers, but hates her job too? Once the food came, you could tell it was fresh food and the cook, who may be the owner, puts out food she's proud of as she later came to check on the patrons. Jam was homemade, eggs are farm fresh, food is homey and seasoned... Kate, the cook gets 5 stars for food and personality, waitress gets a 1...that it a solid 3 in my book.
