My family and I went to the restaurant after being recommended by a friend. My family and I waited for over 20 minutes to have someone come to our table, which wasn’t a huge deal but they weren’t very busy at the time. When a waitress came to the table, we explained to the waitress someone in our party was in the bathroom. Even after they returned from the bathroom the waitress never came back to our table but serviced multiple people that came in after us. We waited another half an hour and decided to try somewhere else.

Of the 3 pubs on Maine street until recently I regarded Linger Longer as the best. I went into Linger Longer and sat at the bar and ordered a beer. Got into a conversation with a fellow patron as often happens. Ordered a second beer and a refill for the individual I was conversing with along with a nice tip for the female bartender who was serving us (my tips are generous to the point of them asking me if I want change to which I always reply in the negative). Anyway, I was enjoying the conversation and the atmosphere so I ordered a third beer, this time from a large, overweight, male bartender. I jokingly told him to cut me off after this beer (I never have more than 3 beers in one setting even if they are just light beers). I’ve used this phrase before with other bartenders at this establishment with no negative repercussions. This bartender however got all “legal” and informed me in a loud voice that because I had phrased my order in such a manner he “was obligated” to cut me off after this order and then repeated to the other bartender a few feet away in a loud voice the same. I am sure that all the patrons at the bar heard everything which pretty much put a damper on my previously good mood (not to mention the embarrassment).
Someone in this establishment should inform this character that he isn’t working at the Department of Motor Vehicles or the U.S. Post Office. I don’t expect to be treated like royalty because I’m not but I also don’t expect to be treated like dirt. I guess it’s time to find another place for that Saturday night beer.
