The complimentary chips and seafood were a nice touch, and I enjoyed a couple of beers with some empanadas. That part was good. However, the experience dropped quickly after finding out they serve frozen food when the place isn’t busy. For a seafood restaurant, freshness should always come first. Serving frozen items takes away from the quality and makes it hard to want to come back.

If you’re thinking of going to El Ancla Mariscos… think twice. We went Friday June 27th to celebrate my birthday—place wasn’t full, but the hostess refused to seat us unless we sat at the bar. No reservation needed (we asked), but we only got a table after we said we were willing to pay extra. I found this very Rude . Just sharing so y’all don’t waste your night like we almost did she definitely ruined my birthday night out.

We came all the way from South Elgin wanting some true Mexican Sea food and this place truly delivered. The service was exceptional and the food was fresh and just what we were looking for. We highly recommend it.

I don't recommend it. The squid was hard as rubber + the oil was dark and tasted like it had been used many times. I won't go there again. I paid a lot. The food was not tasty.
