What a great surprise, went to the library and saw this next door so I wandered in. The selection of donuts and pastries were great, and the ones I tried were some of the best I ever had. Didn't have any actual cookies that day, but my next trip to Altamont will include a stop here !!!

My wife loves their cake we drove from mattoon today for it. Unfortunately the cooler only had cupcakes from Thanksgiving that's 6 days ago. My wife asked the lady (the owner) if they would even still be good being so old. She said oh yeah they are still good. She went ahead and bought them since we drove 45 minutes. She usually gets donuts while there but today they was serving old old donuts. Every pastry they had in there was not made today or yesterday most likely Sunday judging by the looks. So we passed on the pastries. We did get a cookie and it was fine. (Only good thing from the trip). The cupcakes were stale and the frosting was oily due to they needed tossed out. Yes I was the one who bought them but the owner said they was still good I should of went with my own instincts. I get things are high inflation and all but if you have to serve old stale food you are going to lose business. I've gone here for 15 years or so and I think it's time to find a new bakery one that doesn't cut corners. We threw the cupcakes out what they should of done in the first place. I feel ripped off.

We stopped in on a recent visit to Altamont, as I was super excited to try the Cookie Jar. The case was filled with lots of different donuts/pastries, so we got an assortment. Prices were super reasonable and they tasted like your standard donut. I was disappointed there really weren't any cookies for sale, which seemed odd given the name of the place!

Super friendly and helpful, I called at 6:30 am with a last minute order and I had my order by 7:00am. Cakes and cupcakes are always beautifully decorated and delicious. Donuts are amazing always.
