Good country cookin...gotta try the apple pie while waiting for breakfast...Great with your coffee!!!
We were just out for a weekend drive and decided to stop in. Friendly staff ,good food and Amazing pie! Stop in and check them out.
Awesome food, awesome service. We were passing through on the way to a motocross track. We will stop again if in the area!
Initially, this restaurant seemed like a charming hometown eatery, but our experience quickly soured. The 4-strip meal I ordered came with French fries and a salad bar. Regrettably, the chicken strips were underwhelming, lacking meat and overcooked. Both the French fries and salad bar were also subpar. My son's bacon cheeseburger was diminutive and excessively greasy, comparable to a fast-food burger. It came with chips, which he appreciated. I chose the special fish sandwich, but couldn't identify the fish or its origin. Although crispy, my French fries were again inedible. The Starry drink I ordered had an unusual taste, which I initially thought was exaggerated by my child. However, upon trying it, I concurred. The water tasted similarly, suggesting an issue with the filters. Our waitress provided poor service, neglecting to greet us or demonstrate basic courtesy. With my background in customer service and food establishment management, I recognize the importance of a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, this restaurant fell short. The total bill for our unsatisfactory meals was nearly $32.00, which I found excessive. I will not return nor recommend this establishment to others.

This was great homecooked REAL food.
The salad bar had fresh tasty vegetables and the walleye was perfect. The cook even gave us the lunch special a little early.
Sorry I can’t remember the waitress’s name, but she gave very good service. The small town restaurant was a little older, but everything was clean. Will definitely be back.
I enjoy this restaurant. We had haddock, baked potato and salad bar.
excellent food and service
Great food, nice people. Loved the pea salad. Enjoyed our conversation with a nice lady from Sheffield. Looking forward to coming back next time we're in the area.
The food and service here is outstanding! They have the best sweet tea north of the Mason Dixon line!

Stopped in at this small town dinner for lunch, we we are from Dayton Corners Illinois, a friend of ours told us about this Diner. The wife had hot roast beef and mashed potatoes she said it was fantastic myself I had a BLT and the salad bar the salad bar was great everything tasted wonderful and the sandwich was great the only bummer about the dining experience was they were out of the apple pie but I did get a piece of banana cream and believe me it was everything I expected from a homemade pie. Our server made it a wonderful small town experience. Since my wife and I retired this is what we love to do trying different small town diners and this one will rate high on our list we will be back thank you
All it takes is one rude person who is in customer service to loose my business forever.
A group of 6 of us tried out The Purple Onion and it was very good. My wife and I were last to arrive and so the other 4 were having pie as an appetizer and were very please with the homemade pies. Our waitress was AWESOME! The Service was Awesome! The food was VERY GOOD! I ordered chicken livers as an appetizer and they were cooked perfectly. My wife had fried chicken and was happy but she really enjoyed the small salad bar which had a small variety of different salads. We also finished the night with pie. I was very sad they were out of cherry and settled for coconut cream but I did not turn it away. We will be back so I can have cherry pie. Highly recommend to anyone in the area of Annawan!
Wonderful country diner with a friendly atmosphere and great food! Definitely eat there again.
When I’m passing through this area, I like to stop at this little town café. (Take note I’m making this post December 30, 2024. Their hours of operation have been adjusted for the holiday )It’s cafés like this that keep America rolling in this world that is full of corporate chains . It isn’t very far off the highway 5min, It’s worth a stop. The folks are friendly and the food is top-notch. I especially enjoy stopping here for breakfast.
