The food was a bit bland for Mexican dishes.The carne asada was blackened when I specifically requested the waitress NOT to blacken the piece of meat. I asked for medium well, not blackened. Well, I got a very chard black piece of carne asada, which was bitter from the heat.It is obvious that there is no desire to please the paying client due to the extreme lack of conveying the customers' wishes to the cook who never has to face the eating customers.The sides were flat tasting with little imagination on how to flavor them so that the customer believes the food was somewhat authentic Mexican verses serving direct from the commercial containers.This Pepe's need to get out the recipes and follow them to ensure that the dishes taste authentic.Rice was dry and served luke warm.Refried beans were almost warm and tasteless.Carne was black, chard,and uncooked inside.This location needs help immediately.

Best seasoned steak I have had in the area. Im a huge meat eater my entire life. Ok first thing if you are from Mexico this is not authentic Mexican but an Mexican American blend. I have eaten at hundreds of places and am impressed w the steak burrito dinner I had. The steak had 0 pieces of fat. Moat places always have chewy fat pieces w very little salt. This steak was so full of flavor I loved the taste of a well balances salt. My youngest had the steak taco dinner and my wife had the Guisado De Puerco. Everyone enjoyed the food and wonderful service. The place is very clean with comfortable booths. Your looking at about 20 a person roughly. They just need a much brighter sign lol.
The service is friendly and the food is so delicious. We love to go for their lunch buffet. It runs almost all day (11-3) and has all the favourites on it,even flan!

Starting coming here for half price margaritas which are amazing. Service is very good, we are always met with a smile and a warm greeting. Chicken quesadilla was good. Chips and salsa was pretty good too .

If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't spend your money here. The place really went downhill after the original owner left. The woman that runs it now does not care about customer service at all. It's an all around bad experience. Place smelled like a Porta potty, food was awful, we had to get up twice to ask for refills and to let them know we were ready to order. All this while the new owner was sitting at the bar chatting with her bartender. Never ever going back.

They made a few changes especially on portions we use to go there a lot and now its a totally different thing I am not recommend this place at all anymore. we use to order a steak fajitas all the time it was the best but now they are super small super different they're just not good at all. I ordered them and ask them to make them extra spicy and looks like he is at at bunch of hot sauce on them something that I could do right at the table.
First, we love Pepes. This one just didn't live up to expectations. Our chips were mildly burnt, and tasted kind of funky. The avocado salad was 99% shredded lettuce with 2-3 avocado slices and a very small amount of sour cream. The steak tacos were dry like they were sitting under a heat lamp. And the service was just a bit slow. Nothing was awful enough to complain, but definitely underwhelming compared to the other locations (Crestwood, Oak Forest, Oswego).

From the drinks to the meal it was horrible. Strawberry Daiquiri was so sweet and no alcohol & undrinkable. The queso fundido was yellow cheese, never had I seen that and the food very bad quality a can beans is better than here.service was horrible

Yesterday (Sunday), we (a cousin and I) visited Pepe's on Lake Street in Aurora and I definitely had a delicious steak burrito and to drink, I had diet RC to which the gracious hostess offered refill(s) and the service was wonderful and friendly and the atmosphere was quiet with some good music played later. My cousin enjoyed the tacos. I only wished to have eaten more of the chips with the salsa and I forgot to ask for the remaining chips to go. Thank you for a wonderful lunch/meal.
