“Awesome food and fresh Guinness!“

“It's been over two weeks since my family and I visited The Polish American Bistro. It would be remiss of me not to leave a wonderful review of this lovely restaurant! Ania and Darek, the owners, are the nicest and most hospitable people ever! Since I have family in Poland, it was fun to talk to them about their homeland. Now about their food . . . it's completely amazing! I ordered galumpki (ground beef and rice wrapped in cabbage). The tomato sauce on top was so delicious, it spun circles around the sauce my grandma used to make (sorry, Grandma!)! My husband ate a breaded pork cutlet with mashed potatoes. SO tasty! And my daughter opted for a cheeseburger that looked and tasted so great that we even returned the next day to order another cheeseburger to go! Our entrees were accompanied by a side of two types of salad - one made of marinated red cabbage, and the other was their super delectable authentic Polish sour cream, cucumbers and dill. As you can tell, our dinner itself was a 5-star experience. Last but not least, I must discuss their DESSERTS! When you walk into Ania and Darek's restaurant, your eyes will immediately be drawn to their multi-tier display of desserts. Unfortunately, since our stomachs were full after our delicious dinner, we couldn't even think of dessert. However, take-home was still an option! So I asked Ania to escort me to the dessert case and tell me about her sweet treats. It turns out she owns a bakery in another suburb, and all the desserts are made on location at the bakery FROM SCRATCH! So we took a few home (see photo), ate them the next evening, and they did not disappoint! I loved them all, especially the vanilla custard inside the eclair and fruit tart! The chocolately hazelnut dessert was a Kinder Bueno torte. I want to go back and try more of these amazing treats! “Great Fox river supper club with a bar next to their dock. We ate this evening and Rachael was our server. What a great server that added to our delicious food! We highly recommend Kiefs and ask for Rachael as your server. You won't be disappointed!“

“The evening we went it was very cold out so the restaurant was not extremely busy. This restaurant will be one of regulars. We shared small plates which were among the best we ever had. Wi has the bread, most delicious toppings, the tomotoes were outstanding. Along with bacon wrapped dates with pistachio. Llarge dates, with a warm honey sauce wrapped in bacon and topped with crumbles nuts. Equally good. The topper was the chacuterrie board. Best we've ever had. Uniquie cheeses and Meats along with apples, nuts and sweet dried cranberries. The owner explained about the cheeses and meats and where they came from. Very, very, good. And we enjoyed being informed. Our waitress, Jan was perfect. Introduceed herself and provided attentive yet not intrusive service. The chef stopped by our table as well. This would be our neighborhood favorite but is worth the travel, which was only 25 minutes for us.“

“I totally enjoy the skill of all the wait staff, their ability to inform, enjoy conversation, and do the run down on what the band is like. Owners Tom & Karen are gregarious, fun, interesting people and provide GREAT talented local musicians. The music scene in Wauconda, Illinois is 10 out of ten...bar hopping encouraged. French Martini with Chambourg, an 11 and one drink, my limit...usually. Dancing...FUN! Especially when Karen agrees. Lol. And occasionally, or perhaps too often singing back up to Motown song fulfills my fantasy to be a Temptation, a Top, Little Stevie Wonder, or Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell. And yes, the Jackson 5. But there's no mountain higher than backup to a Supremes song, except for a Diana song, or Tina is Simply The Best! But Diana's he PEAK, & so is STRAWBERRY MOON. CHECK IT OUT. “We had the use of Bliss from 1-5 on a Saturday when they are normally closed.
We hosted a birthday party with 45 people attending, had it catered locally, and hired a 3 piece band playing amplified acoustic music. Owner Alex bartended and did a wonderful job. It’s a lovely and comfortable old building in a great location with an owner that has his head in a very good place. We give it an 11 out of 10. Thanks again Alex.“

“went here this morning for a couple of drinks with my friend and the bartender Susan was so nice, fun to talk to, and made our experience. definitely will be back for her. the crowd at the bar was also very chill & respectful, so it wasn’t obnoxious or too loud inside and gave us a chance to relax and catch up. they just have basic food options like mozz sticks or burgers, but the food was yummy, drinks were cold, and it’s always just nice to be served by anybody who’s so down to earth and personable. 🤗“

“Cheers. This is a quintessential dive bar where everybody eventually knows your name. A good place to be alone or regale with friends. I’ve visited at least a half dozen times and the experience has been fine. Trish and the other bartenders have been attentive and quite friendly. I’ll be back time and time again.“

“Great local bar with the best bartenders in the area. If you want to experience what real Elgin is like, look no further than Hoppes! They have Fish Fry on Fridays but I’ve never had it but I want to. The owners are great and their sexy son, Chad, works some nights and is great eye candy for the ladies. If you want a bartender that serves up honesty along with great drinks, Jimmy is your man. He’s brutally honest so ask him to roast you for a good time. He once referred to a customer as the Vampire of Fun and he was spot on. Tiffany is a ball of energy, whose spirit is infectious. If you’re having a bad day, go during her shifts and she’ll pick you up immediately. Gale is the last bartender I’ve interacted with who works there. He’s a cool calm dude who can tell you some of the most interesting facts of the area. He’s also a caterer and a butcher when not at the bar. Theres someone for everyone here and if you’re in from out of town or just traveling through, have a stop at Hoppes just so you can say you’ve been there.“

“I spent 3 nights here. The hotel is really nice in my opinion. First night was a Friday night. Ordered some alcoholic drinks that were really good. The Thai calamari & Louie burger and fries. Food was great, bartenders that night were really great. Second night. Different crew and the restaurant was pretty packed believe the Milwaukee brewers were playing the cubs to wrap up the series. So yea that was the atmosphere of that night vs Friday night super lowkey fast service. Obviously it was harder to get served that night. I got burnt tenders and the wrong food . So I had to return it immediately. Which was already after waiting an extensive time to even get water to our table. So yea took away from the experience overall. Each visit spent over 100$. Oh and I got that chocolate cake dessert, it was nasty. They had breakfast. Breakfast was good . However, we were told that breakfast came with the room. Every morning we went down for it. The morning of our departure we were met at our table (after we already began eating) how we were going to pay for the food. Nobody discussed / disclosed that you had to have a voucher or pay at the desk. We were told at check in it was covered. Obviously had to escalate it . Still felt like an explanation was not clear. I pretty much answered it myself. So the communication of the staff to customer could definitely use some work. Overall stay was good . Hotel was nice and clean. Only took pics of the good looking food from Friday night & the breakfast.“
