I dined here at the sushi bar for the first time this year (Saturday night, 11-9-2024)! I usually order about $100-$200 of take out! It was a GREAT experience! The main dining room was PACKED, so thankfully, I had the sushi bar area to myself! Anyway, for appetizers, I had the Golden Lobster, Golden Shrimp and Shrimp Shumai Dumplings (which were so pillowy soft and delicious)! Then for entree, I had a Salmon Skin Handroll, Spicy Tuna Handroll, and a ton of nigiri: Uni/Sea Urchin, Salmon, Fatty Salmon, Tuna, Fatty Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Mackerel, Ikura/Salmon Roe, Spicy Tobiko/Flying Fish Roe, and Tamago/Scrambled Egg! My total bill was $190!!! It was well worth it because I had the sushi bar area to myself, got to watch these cool blues videos on the flat screen TV, and have a nice time talking with Owner/Executive Chef Mr. Lee! I will, of course, be back for more awesome sushi! By the way, you can only dine in on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights! You can do take out on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights! They're closed on Mondays!

We had heard good things about this place and decided to try it. When we entered, there was a private party in progress. We were told our only option was take out and that it would take an hour. We agreed to that, ordered, and came back an hour later. Our food was ready and we returned home. The Canada salad was a lump of cooked salmon with a ton of mayonnaise on top of greens. I despise cooked salmon and was assuming it was raw, so I can’t tell you more about that because I didn’t eat it. The wasabi shiu mai tasted like ground pork with no seasoning: so boring I gave up after two of those. The rice in the sushi was dry and undercooked. The rolls were boring; no imagination in their construction or their seasoning. So disappointing! The fish itself was fresh and good, so at least that was decent. All in all, we were seriously underwhelmed and will probably not be back.

To the person who said slow service, there is only 3 people who work there, they are working hard trying to feed a full dining room, i love this restaurant i have been coming here since i was a baby, literally, they have great service, great food, for a great price, if your willing to pay the price they will give you excellent service, this place is a home to me, they have become my family, i wish all of the staff the best of luck and a good bright future.

Vegetarian options: They have gluten free soy sauce and imitation crab so im sure theres alot of stuff people can have

Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten free soy sauce and it is awesome! They are also super clean without any cross contamination!

Parking: Behind the catlow!

Sagano is definitely underrated ? my fiancé and i came here for his birthday. It was very low key and there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant that had people at them.... This place definitely deserves a lot more credit. The service was very respectful and helpful when suggesting dishes and drinks. Once we got our food we were definitely surprised by the portion size as they were quite big. The food was so good and tasted fresh. We will definitely be back ☺️

This place is a great hidden gem. The fish is high quality, tastes great and worth the price.

Fantastic little place in downtown Barrington. My wife had 2 rolls of sushi and I had the chicken teriyaki, we also split an order of egg rolls. We loved our food and it was a great price. We will be going back many more times.

I have been going to Sagano since they opened over 20 years ago. They have some of the best sushi I have ever had. It is even better than some of the sushi I have had in Japan.

They don't serve just cold or raw fish (sushi). They have Teriyaki Salmon. I wish they would allow dine-in on Sundays for 1 or 2 person seatings. I called in for takeout and it was 45 minutes to prepare and then I had to eat in the parking lot before the food got cold. I had my favorite, Teriyaki Salmon. It has always been the same delicious plate as 15 years ago since I've been coming here. I would have ordered more like miso soup and edamane if they had allowed dine-in on that very cold Sunday. But I do know that they have dine-in service on Friday and Saturday. Just call to make sure before you head there. Sorry, no pic of the Teriyaki Salmon plate with vegetables.

An amazing restaurant. Their food is delicious. We ordered the salmon and it was just the best I’ve had at any restaurant so far! Some of our friends were vegetarian and the pastas were made to accommodate their needs. The owner was extremely sweet and kind! I would definitely go there again!
