The menu looks amazing but the food has no flavor ! The tacos flavorless & the meat was chewy. La parrilla down the block has better tacos and that's bkus it not a taco spot lol.how do you mess up a taco when all you have to do is season the meat . Legit was sad

Ordered a steak burrito, steak torta and a steak taco . 1st bite into the steak burrito, they're was an obvious bone fragment in it. Pushed through it, cause I was starving. Between more bone fragments and grizzle... i pitched it half way though. Completely disgusted.The rest is already in the garbage

It's been a while since I stopped by to have dinner at El MEX and let me tell that it never disappoints. I come to this restaurant just to have Carne en su jugo and my goodness it's amazing. Rich in flavor with all the ingredients that the real carne en su jugo had estilo Jalisco. You can't go wrong!!! Big props to chef Pepin!

My co-workers and I order from here on a regular basis. Their tacos are absolutely delicious! The wait is never long and the food tastes fresh. Highly recommend this taco joint!
I'm not one of those people who does reviews. But this time I had to do it. We went to El Mesón Express restaurant in Berwyn. We ordered tacos, rice and a cheese gordita with beans. I asked the waitress to bring me limes. She brought me 3 small pieces. Then my daughter asked for another taco. Which of course we had asked for more limes. The waitress brought it to her which was only 2 small slices and when I asked for the bill I was charged .75 cents for limes. And when I asked the waitress why she had charged me, she had mentioned to me that they were charging limes as an extra side and that "it was extra". we had only ordered two times for some little limes. I answered her "but they had never charged me for the limes before." and she answered me. "Ok!" with an attitude. When in those 2 times that we had asked for limes we only received 5 small pieces of limes. I have been a client of that restaurant for many years and it is the first time that they charge me for limes. And to finish off the service of that waitress for me personally it was terrible compared to other waitresses that have attended me and my family in the past. But other than that the food was outstanding. And my family loves to come here. Out of all the Mexican restaurants me & my family has attended to I have never been charged for some limes before.

They recently remodeled the restaurant, my experience today was horrendous bc the service from beginning to end was just bad, at first when I arrived I sat by myself for about 15 before getting approached and the sad part was there was only one couple in there and many left already. Jessica finally approached me without a menu or ask me if I wanted anything to drink but later brought me chips and salsa with no napkins and she asked me immediately if I'm ready to order and I didn't read the whole menu yet at this point, she seemed clueless or maybe a new employee but very slow and lack days ago. She took approximately 10-15 to return to ask me if I'm ready and I replied I've been ready then placed the order. Majority of the tables had food and no one cleaned the tables it looked bad and she had no Mexican music or something just dead quiet. I took pics of the tables not cleaned and no one cared for a restaurant that was newly decorated it was terrible. It took approximately 15 more minutes to get my tab and I had to ask another waitress that just came aboard and she told me to pay it at the register. I was a good customer in the past and I will never go back there again, there are many Mexican restaurants in the area and that's what I'll do.

Getting straight to the point. This place is simply amazing. It's a perfect place to get a bite in the afternoon! First impression, the place is clean with tasteful decor. We got there around 4pm, the sun showered pleasantly through the glass windows, with soft music playing, the ambiance was impeccable. We ordered a tacos dinner, asada burritos, and a drink. And it kicked off the best dining experience I've had in years! Not only was the food amazing, you can tell in the smallest detail that they really cared about what they put on the plates. Last but not least, the warm service was yet another highlight! This was the easiest 30% tip to sign, and I wish I had done more! This place has won us over ever so gracefully and effortlessly. We will be happy regulars for a long time to come. Really glad to have found this gem in the Berwyn neighborhoods!

Food was actually good. The one in Cicero on cermak isn't so I was surprised trying here. Only issue with everything I ordered was my tacos one taco the meat was way over cooked it was a bit hard and not very good the other two from my dinner had fatty meat and all was very greasy. I will never get tacos again but the burrito was good it had a lot of bean to be honest then anything else but was tasty, steak dinner was good, gordita was good, and the chicken quesadillas was good. Definitely ordering again
