Food is reliable and exceptionally good, but with a large number of caveats. First, this is a dedicated sit down restaurant, so prices were understandable for being higher than local taquerias, however prices have gone up a stratospherical amount, some items have gone up by about 50% over the last few months, tacos of all things go for around $6 each, and I'll get back to this. Service has always been a bit weird, but the shear quality of food and the atmosphere outweighed it, and the bit of weird added character, but lately the service has been stranger, it would take large amounts of effort to flag somebody even when things are slow for something like a drink. Ironically, when food actually gets served, we had a fellow hover by us just within peripheral vision, and he would ask within seconds of finishing something if he can take it, and he would walk away if you actually tried looking at him, he also asked if we didnt like some rice that was included in a meal that had been sitting on the table for less than 2 minutes if we didn't like them. Then there is clear signs of some cost cutting, when we first the complimentary chips, which yes, I know they are free, included salsas with them which normally were like 2 spoonfuls each, a weird cost cutting measure was the tacos I got were on corn tortillas, but unlike the customary two for virtually every corn tortillas taco, it had one and it rapidly tore. My gripes about the service and the other weirdness, the food is fantastic, but the prices are rediculous, to the point that the quality to dollar falls behind with cheaper taquerias in the area

Extremely disappointed, had such high hopes after seeing an IG video for the restaurant in Arlington Heights. Ordered spicy margarita and mezcal old fashioned, my wife liked the margarita and my old fashioned was fine, a little too sweet. My kids had the filet that had a very strange smell but was tender and tasty. I had three tacos (fish, steak and al pastor) and elotes. All of the tacos were disappointing, the steak topped with crispy onions flavors did not go well and the steak did not have a good seasoning, al pastor has ok flavor but by the last bite, it felt boring, lastly the fish taco had no flavor in the batter and the sauce was underwhelming and don't make up for the lack of flavor. The elotes was the worst, it had a sour taste and the corn was so soft, almost mush. My wife's carne asada steak was ok but after 4 bites, way too salty, her sides were creative but I did not find them tasteful. Overall, I was sad leaving with a bill over $100, not satisfied and looking for another Mexican spot. The most disappointing thing was the elotes, such an easy dish and somehow they put something out that tasted awful and the quality of the corn was abysmal.

Had very high hopes but had An overall bad experience, and this is for someone who works in the restaurant industry.Servers, bussers, and even the who it seems was a manager were chatting and messing around directly next to our table which made our seating uncomfortable. The food lacked flavor, pastor tasted like burnt plastic, carne asada was ice cold and had a funky after taste, fish was bland, rice had a funny taste to it as well. The taste was so off to me that I couldn’t eat more than one bite of each. Honestly the only good part was the salsa verde.The beer was extremely skunky. Wouldn’t return, especially for the price of everything.

We used to love Mago. It's definitely taken a drop! It's still brings in a crowd but the food and drinks are not as good as they used to be unfortunately. You feel very rushed. The food came out so quickly but for the fajitas the vegetables weren't even fully cooked. They are in your space taking plates faster then you can finish to get you out for the next group. The bathrooms were filthy and only 1 bathroom stall would lock but has a huge gap so anyone walking in can see right in. We won't be returning anytime soon. Definitely much better places out there that value the customer and quality for the cost!

WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Was warm and inviting from the second we stepped foot in the door. We were greeted by Alexia, She went over all the options and the menu! True world class service. Our waitress Bridge was 10 out of 10! The level of service and attention given was exceptional. Then the real star of the show arrived!!! HOLY MOLE ! Ever flavor ever bite was so tender and warm… ? thank you .

My wife and I love mexican food (who doesn't) so we made the roughly 30 minute drive to the Bolingbrook Promenade to give it a shot. In our opinion everything was good, but not the best in the area. It is in a nice area, so they charge accordingly. Food was above average. Drinks were average. The place is quite small and in a high traffic area. The result of that was we felt very rushed. We were trying to have a nice evening out with no kids to just relax. They had somebody at the table every 2 minutes taking plates, cups, utensils. At 1st it seemed like they were trying to provide attentive service. Then while we were still eating they brought us boxes, took half a bowl of tableside quac that we thought were were going to take home and got rid of it. While we boxed our food the server came back with the check all ready to go. When I asked for the dessert menu I got a look, like I was being a horrible inconvenience. So I didnt care for that. I have had better, I have had worse. At the end of the day, I wont make a 30 minute drive to go back here anytime soon.
