I took my 3.5 year old here for a junior cooking class. I was a bit worried because the other students (5 years old) had been dropped off, but I had been planning to stay. Aaron and Amy were absolutely fine with that.
Shemwell's was gut rehabbed in February of '21. The counter, dining area and bathrooms are beautiful. The prices are reasonable. I had the pulled pork sandwich for $4.50. Nice to see some fresh investment in an otherwise neglected river town.
Made and delivered breakfast boxes for our teachers and staff. Great communication, smooth delivery, and amazing cinnamon rolls. Thank you!!
We have had 3 weeks of meals delivered and LOVED every option we had. What a great service! Thank you!
Huge shout out to the kitchen Table!
This was a bitter sweet trip. A final goodbye to my 94 year old grandmother. My grand kids were introduced to Shemwell's and the good traditional food. They loved the step back in time. I only wish they were open on Sunday's again. That is the time we usually hit Cairo and I miss eating and taking home food from Shemwell's. This is one of the great things about Cairo.
Soup kitchen that gives to-go lunch bags at 11am Tuesday thru Friday. Wonderful home cooked food. Great staff
My friend and I have ate at Shemwell's several times, but never again! We like to never got waited on. The server was very unfriendly. We got the port sandwitch, served on toasted, soggy like white bread. There was a lot of fat on the meat that had to be removed. Ate half the sandwich, The BQ sauce liked a lot to be desired! Should have complained...but didn't. Paid our bill and left no tip.
Stopped by for a quick sandwich. Not a smile or friendly greeting from any of the staff. Meats on sandwiches are thick cut rather than shaved or pulled which makes for an interesting meal as you try to bite through a cut which may a bit of fat or gristle. Sandwich bread is just that, toasted bread, instead of a bun. Good barbecue sauce if you like Tabasco sauce. Prices are kept low by serving your order on paper plates and by hiding the dining ware.
