The Shack Shrimp & Chicken

Used to be the best chicken. Now it’s a shame they closed.I asked on Facebook if they permanently closed and they left me on read, twice. Sign saying they will open back on 6/22 has been up for a while, and it’s 7/12 now.

Second time here. Menu has changed however food still good, hot, and delicious!!!!Customer service was great!

IM SO GLAD THEY OPENED BACK UP. THE BATTER IS LIGHT SO U CAN ENJOY THE MEAT. EVERYTHING IS FRIED FRESH. I EAT HERE AT LEAST A COUPLE TIMES A MONTH.

Yes we order a medium shrimp and a pound of perch the medium shrimp was so small it look like it was just is the end piece of shrimp shred it off with crust on it and it was greasy and also the customer service stinks the perch was greasy and it was four pieces for little pieces and it was greasy it wasn’t worth it it was a waste of my dinner when I call back he hung up on me customer service very rude do not recommend

I love there food haven't eaten here since covid started mainly because I haven't been out a whole lot! I love eating local and I try to do it as often as possible because Calumet city keeps loosing all of are businesses. I have to say the woman who was in there today was very friendly and had me in and out. I even enjoyed the little bit of small talk she had lately i try to have small talk while I'm in restaurants waiting and people lack customer service to the point that they deliberately kinda just ignore it a little rude if I must say! There shrimp are good there sauces are tasty and they do have a good variety. I really enjoyed there alligator when I tried it awhile back as well. If you are in the area Give these guys a shot the food is good and the customer service is A1.

The perch I ordered near closing time was lightly cooked and tasted weird plus it was whitish in color and not crispy at all.The shrimp was good though.It should be noted the waitress was helpful

The Shack has been a regular stop for my Dad and I who love shrimp and fish, and the food is always good. Would have given them a five ( * ) it the Milk Shake machine wasn't down so much ( cause I love the salted caramel shake ).

It was freezer burnt but very friendly and clean

Alligator, gulf shrimp, fries and hush puppies were all delicious. Generous portions for reasonable prices in a wwll-kept Black owned Louisiana style spot. I was 100% satisfied.

Drove in from Cleveland Ohio. We chose this spot because it was on our way to hotel. First time, but not our last. The place was pristine clean so we stayed to eat. The food was piping hot, hearty servings and tasty!! Loved it. An immediate favorite!!

Trying to figure what kind of mystery meat they serve as Catfish ???. Strange texture, unknown taste & unfamiliar appearance.
