We went here on a whim, and so glad we did. It's just a small bar in the front and a restaurant, with about ten tables in back, but it works. The service was excellent and the food was on point. I regret not going here sooner.

Great food and friendly service ? the pork tenderloin sandwich was very good ?

Parking: The restaurant is right in a major intersection next to the railroad and train station, so it was a little tricky unless you were on the side of the street it's located on.

We ordered breaded mushrooms, a BBQ pork sandwich, and a fish sandwich. Our mistake was to think that fries actually came with the sandwich. The fish sandwich was mushy. Like it had been microwaved. Cheapest fish sandwich you can buy from the food company. Fish from McDonald's is a whole lot better. At $7.49 for just a nasty prefrozen fish sandwich is crazy. 3.99 for ub par fries. I can get a fish combo at mcds that would have been a lot better. For a lot less. The BBQ pork that was supposed to be smoked there for 13 hours, tasted like cheap store bought pork. Paid $8.49 for a little bun with sub par BBQ pork. The iced tea tasted like they had used the tea bag 3 times already. Just brown water. We had to decided to try a hole in the wall restaurant. Unless you want sub par food at a high price, I wouldn't go here

They highly recommended the Horseshoes, so I opted for the BBQ Western Shoe. It was good, but not great (compared to other options in central IL) so loss of a star (wish I could give a 4.5 star) . Still, if in Carlinville, stop in as staff and patrons were friendly.

This is the second time I have been here. I love the food. This visit I had the shrimp ? with their sweet chili sauce (so good that I lapped it up with my fork when I finished the shrimp). Now, do not miss Grandma's potato salad. It was devine. Their Cole Slaw is very good. Krista was a wonderful server.

Parking: Only after 5:30, park in the Napa Parts lot. There's plenty of parking in the Wood Duck Lot, but it is difficult to get out of the lot.

Camping put at Beaver Dam State Park and needed gas. Saw this bar/grill and decided to try it out for a late lunch. Didn't disappoint. Special was a reuben and fries. The fries were perfect....crunchy on the outside tender on the inside. Taco salad was absolutely delicious. Server was helpful and super friendly. Highly recommend.
