Was very sad when for the 2nd time got a cake frosted donut and tasted old! Had hard frosting was hard and tasted awful! The 1st time just let it go but happened again and was disappointed they use to be so soft frosting moist and donut moist. Couldn't even eat the taste was horrible. Strange because went on a Tuesday AM at 735! Also got a danish! And same was hard and tasted stale. Would think would be fresh. Not sure if will be back! Disappointing for sure!!
UPDATE** went back to give 3rd and final try! Got chocolate cake frosted donut. Was the same.. flavor is off Taste stale and crunchy..like been sitting around a few days! Very disappointing! Well gave 3 tries. 3rd strike your out. Miss the old donuts! Don't waste your money Jewel next door has better donuts!

The cheese pockets are not the same what they used to be under previous owners. I bought them on three different occasions and they were hard, covered with excessive amount of crumbs, flat and barely had any cheese. I am not the only one who has noticed a big difference. Very disappointed and will not be going back.

I heard about Sauer's Bakery before while living in Chicago. The 1 hour drive to the small peaceful town was worth the tasty treats! Ladies and Gentlemen, i cannot express just how delicious the Coffes cakes and Danishes are!! There are a wide vareity of selections to include cookies and donuts. If you plan to go grocery shopping during the week, do NOT make the bakery the last stop. These are fresh baked good and their inventory display sell out fast in the mornings! Its October, so i had to treat myself with a Halloween Apple Cider Donut! :D Happy Halloween everyone!
we used to shop your bakery for a few years.. was looking forward to your reopening.. your prices are way too high.. $18.00 for an apple / peach coffee cake? highway robbery... almost $4.00 for one Apple Cider donut? not worth it... what is leverage tax? is that another jelly belly tax.. aka Pritzker stupid tax? why not post your tax so people will know what your are charging them for? Plus why not post your prices... give us the chance to walk-out before we get robbed? Best of luck.. will give you six months... what a shame.

This is an old fashioned bakery of the type that are hard to find these days and it is a gem. Not particularly ethnic in any way, just excellent baked goods and lots of variety. The coffee cakes, danish type pastries, chocolate eclairs and so much more are to die for. If you go on Saturday go early as selection runs lower later in the day, like any good bakery.
