It was very busy for dinner service but they were able to get my group seated right away. The servers tried to bring us additional meals by mistake which we laughed about since it was packed. I enjoyed my ribeye sandwich and most of the appetizers. Only thing that the table didn't like was the pickle chips because they were slightly undercooked. We were eating quickly before the Illini game so we didn't take the time to return them. We all decided we'd definitely return to give them another shot.

My Son, Wife and I were there earlier today. We all three ordered the Ruban Sandwich. . .. For all three the meat was overcooked, dry, very little dressing if any or Sauerkraut and Cold. NOT HAPPY at all. None of us ate a whole half because of this. Now on the other hand, my Son ordered the Dumplings which were AWESOME, I could make a meal of them in itself. He also ordered a Garlic pizza ? if I remember correctly it was pretty good also but the toppings seem to have been mainly on one side...... The Wife and I plan to give it another shot....

I worked at The Esquire for a few years and can confirm this is THE best bar/business in all of C/U. Jackie and Paul are pillars of the community, and continue to produce a great environment/product. The staff is always fun and knowledgable. The food is really good and affordable. There’s always a patron willing to hold good conversation.
Don’t skip this location if you’re visiting town. If you’re local you already known all this. Cheers!!
