“This is my go-to stop every time I visit UIUC. No trip feels complete without it. I usually get the shawarma over rice with chicken and steak — an absolute must-try. The portions are incredibly generous; you can easily stretch one meal into lunch and dinner.

“Where do I begin…

I was looking for places open on Christmas Eve and of course all the popular places in town are all closed but then I saw Mashawee House and at first I was a bit skeptical since it only had 30-40 reviews at the time of visiting but I called ahead of time to confirm they were open and they were.

Now don’t expect this to be extremely fast. EVERYTHING is made cook to order and EXTREMELY FRESH. You can choose your kebabs legit right in front of you and they cook it to perfection.

I had a Kufta sandwich and a strawberry smoothie it was soooo good. I could eat it legit everyday and never get sick of it. The meat in the sandwich was so juicy and tender and the fresh veggies that were in it was the cherry on top. I got it as a meal, the fries were like diner steak cut fries almost like texas roadhouse and they were fresh and hot but just basic frozen fries but still great.

Honestly I have no idea why they aren’t packed to the brim. This place doesn’t cheap out on quality nor quantity. This is my new go to place in town. 11/10“
