Have eaten here twice now. The ramen is in a word, incredible. The food is very very authentic. If you go you get the fried quail. I promise you won't regret it.
Huge selection of sake and unique cocktails. Service is top notch. The ambience is amazing. Highly recommended

Really nice atmosphere! The bartender was so much fun with showing us the different types of sake and explained them to us as we tried them. The food is amazing, great drink selection and people.

Incredible dining experience! The atmosphere was elegant, creating a refined ambiance. The dishes were truly the work of a master chef. We tried some private home cuisine lol. It’s been a long time since I’ve tasted food this delicious. Highly recommend!

I have eaten here twice. First time food was ok but very very slow. I got my entree when my husband was done with his meal. I did like the food. Second time was with a big group of friends. It was also very slow service, drink order for my friend was wrong. My squid entree second time there looked like a squid salad (no starches or veggies, just squid on bed of lettuce.) Service always slow and lack luster. Overall the experience and the price point does not match up. That is too bad as the food is typically one of my favorite cuisines / types of food, but the execution the dish and dining experience does not meet expectations for an upscale restaurant.

I found the food quality good and fish felt fresh, although i am not an expert on fish freshness. Katsu chicken curry was good as well.

One of the best restaurants in Champaign by far! We were very impressed by the quality of food, the vibes and the restaurant staff! We ordered Karaage Chicken as an appetizer and it was seriously some of the best fried chicken I have ever hadThe Rich Garlic Tonkotsu was also wonderful. We will definitely be back!!

The ramen was super yummy and the atmosphere is amazing here ?
The waiter was very helpful and gave good recommendations and also let me take home a pair of chopsticks ?
The only thing I don’t recommend however, is the mochi. It was kind of bland and the outside layer was dry. It did come on a plate with a cute bear shaped ice cube though

Food was great and fairly priced!
The owner also thoughtfully brought out complementary mochi ice cream for dessert! Then, my wife and I each got a complementary drink (calpico and ramune) without asking at all.
The atmosphere was elegant, but still relaxed. I would come again for any kind of occasion!

The boss is very nice hhh. When we had Japanese food last time, we talked about the chef being from Shandong, so this time everyone was a little bolder and we ordered Shandong dishes that were not on the menu hhhh! Tastes goodhhh

Tenkyu has great interior design and ambiance, but I found the ramen to be pretty bland. I ordered the Rich Garlic Ramen and it came with a heaping scoop of freshly chopped garlic on top, giving the broth a rich garlic taste (as described). But there was little flavor besides the garlic.
An elegant restaurant that won the hearts and appetites of our family while in Champaign. Loved the Sashimi platter, the rice bowls and even the Ramen. Service was poor as they seem to be lacking appropriate number of waiters. Loved the live musicians and singers.

I had the pleasure of dining here, and I must say the service provided by Waiter Zhu was outstanding! From the moment we sat down, Zhu was attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome.
What really stood out was Zhu’s excellent recommendations. Every dish suggested was absolutely delicious, perfectly balancing flavors and presentation. Zhu’s knowledge of the menu helped us explore new favorites that we wouldn’t have tried otherwise.
If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with top-notch service, I highly recommend asking for Waiter Zhu. His warm attitude and spot-on suggestions made our meal exceptional. Can’t wait to come back!
