If I could give a zero rating I would. The cleanliness and quality of accommodations was terrible. Our shower was particularly dirty. Water backed up in the sink. We made the mistake of initially securing our reservation with our bank card. The entire amount of our stay was charged to the credit card we provided them upon check in; however, a full night was also charged to our bank card. The hotel can find no record of the transaction for the extra night. They refuse to make things right and have told me that I must file a dispute with my bank. That is a process that could take several days.
We stayed here on our way up north. There was no one at the check-in desk when we arrived. The room was fine and the bed was comfortable. The toilet seat though was very loose - which seemed unsafe. During the night at 1:30 a large group of people came on our floor and were talking loudly in the hall and allowed kids to run back and forth for quite awhile. When we left the light was out in the one elevator - so we had a dark ride downstairs.
It's overpriced in my

Stayed here for a youth soccer tourney. Room was dirty, bathroom was moldy. Hotel is run down looks like basic maintenance is overlooked. The entire hotel smell strongly of marijuana, so bad that my clothes took in the smell. Don't even waste your time walking in the lobby. Stay elsewhere. Overpriced and run down.
Do yourself a favor, pass right by this hotel. It is in need of lots of repairs. Our room had a broken countertop that was falling in and broken cabinet. The hallways smell like smoke and our neighbors across from us smoked pot from the time we arrived till the middle of the night. Had to put a towel under the door because it was coming in. We have two young kids I would never stay there again. They unfortunately don’t take care of this hotel on any level.
As of August 2022 Covid is still running so strong in Illinois that they still won't clean your room in the middle of a stay. Funny.....I do not have that issue in other states. Nice excuse to save a few dollars.....shame on me for falling for it
Bartender was a little shy but that's okay because the drinks made up for that. Nice and cold and delicious. This area in the hotel has a very soft mood setting. Lights are dem, no major music, tvs not blaring, 5 seats at the bar, then some open table with a few booths.Very clam and relaxing. Makes for a good time to wind down at the hotel.
We arrived late on a Friday night. We are titanium lifetime members and had received a suite upgrade so was excited about that as I had my wife and teenage daughter with us. There was no mention of our status, nor anything offered (breakfast, points, etc). When we arrived in the room there was a smell, a musty odor, covered up in part by some sort of fragrance. Unfortunately the room was not in good shape. We first noticed there was a sofa bed that accomodated one, but had no sheets, blankets, pillows in the room. We attempted to call the front desk but both of the phones in the room were not connected/not working. So walked back to the front desk to get some of the items needed to sleep on the sofa bed. Unfortunately when we opened it it was very dirty so my daughter slept on the top of the (curved) small sofa. In the bedroom their was a large web above the bed and in the main room we opened a drawer when looking for the sheets and the drawer wouldn't even close half way. I reported these items to the front desk.
This hotel, I am sorry to say needs some work . Immediately when we entered the room the smell of stale smoke hit us in the face . We tried to call down to the front desk , phone broken , to ask if we could switch room. I have asthma and the smell was killing me and they told us that there were no other room. Being that it was move-in week at the University of Illinois , we knew we were stuck. So we decided to open the screen door to get some fresh air , but the screen was completely broken and ripped off. The room and bathroom were slightly dirty. I know it’s Covid and things are going crazy right now but for a Marriott this is under par. There are plenty other Marriotts in the area so I will choose one of those instead.
Disgusting. I travel a lot and typically love the Courtyard as a reliable comfortable and clean stay. This hotel is a disgrace to the brand. It smells of mildew from the moment you get off the elevator and continues into the room. The carpet, although appears fine, is sticky and shoes are needed. After 16 hours in the car, I was looking forward to a hot shower and the shower was absolutely horrendous. Dirty or stained shower doors, dirty shower pan, paint missing off the shower wall. Mildew stains everywhere and the SMELL! I could not even get myself to shower and just went to bed. Which brings me to the linens, they were not up to par with what I normally receive at a Courtyard. They seemed clean but they were not soft, pillows were hard, comforter was stiff. To top it off the alarm clock, we did not set went off a d there are mo buttons to turn it off besides snooze. After the second snooze I ended up unplugging it. The floors/walls are very thin so I was woken up to the people on the floor above me making Whoopi and then simply walking or jumping (seemed like jumping or stomping) across the floor. The Starbucks that is on property is ‘out of service’ due to a broken water hose or something. They had coffee in the lobby which I just poured myself and sadly it has a green color- must be more mildew. It will be thrown out. I opened my curtains on the second floor to the car wash and dumpster. Wow- that is how they treat silver status members? This room should be taken out of the inventory until the bathroom is fixed at the minimum. I am appalled with my stay and wood not recommend anyone else to stay here. There are lots of hotels in the area. And I read the reviews before booking!

Great location off the interstate COVID issues offered a complimentary take away breakfast items and coffee in the morning. Hotel has not aged well in some areas and perhaps it is COVID but it has been cleaner. Outside first floor rooms in hallway are terrible carpet stains that are certainly not an inviting site to your room! Not up to other Courtyard specs.
We recently stayed at Courtyard in Champaign Illinois. The accommodations were very disappointing. When we arrived the front desk person seemed distant and not interested in welcoming us. There was no welcome or thank you for being a valuable member. Our room had numerous issues including a stopped up sink shortly after we arrived, a telephone that did not work and dirt around the bedside tables as well as in corners. When we reported the lack of Kleenex in the room we were told that these have been removed due to Covid. The front desk person did offer a new box after I had to walk to the front desk since the telephone didn’t work. We were offered a move to a new room but we had already unpacked. Although the experience and accommodations were not up to Marriott standards the next morning the manager on duty was very supportive and understanding and agreed that they did not meet the mark. He refunded the room and left me feeling very heard.
I have stayed at this hotel in the past, nothing fancy, place to sleep. On my last (and it will be my last) stay I arrived late (checked in on-line) to no room (general manager overbooked hotel), placed in another hotel in a room I did not reserve (reserved king bed, was given two doubles). After being told the room would be paid for by the courtyard and I will be given a courtesy 4000 Bonvoy points for the inconvenience I was dismissed by the director of sales as "that's all I have to do for you as Marriott has suspended their reservation guarantee until Sept 15th, 2020". Ok, what could I do, hotel must not expect traveling to ever pick up again. But, as you probably have already guess, the hotel DID charge me for my room and never posted the courtesy points. So all I can ask is that anyone and everyone share this post with all their on-line contacts so your friends can stay at another place that will treat them as they are welcomed. In short, hotel stays are WAY down and yet this is still how the courtyard Champaign treats a customer, can only image how they will treat future customers once travel picks back up. Can only hope they are no longer in business by then
We had a two-day stay at this extremely outdated and worn-out hotel. The day after we checked in, there was a lady at the front desk. She was very kind, but very irresponsible. She simply FORGOT to send house keeping to our room and by the time she realized that, it was too late. So she promised to post additional bonus points to my account. I also kindly reminded them not to forget to post the bonus points, but since she was a very irresponsible person, she forgot despite all that. In addition, on our second morning, the hotel suddenly shut the water when I was in the shower withOUT any advance warning. When we asked the front desk about it, they told us that they had a leak on the first floor. This may happen, but there is NO excuse for the hotel to fail to give us advance warning. Besides, when we checked in, there was a very unpleasant gentleman (he had a beard) at the front desk. The hotel was mostly empty. I asked if they could upgrade me since I was a Titanium Elite but he said they had no suites available. When I pulled the Marriott app, I was able to see suites available during our stay. It is Marriott's typical arrogance to deny complimentary upgrades to top elite members, but there is NO excuse for lying to a loyal customer. We understand that the hotel industry is facing hard times due to Covid-19 crisis, but what we experienced had absolutely nothing to do with Covid-19 crisis. It was purely due to the irresponsible, arrogant and dishonest staff of the hotel.
An adequate hotel for a night or two. It is clean, basic and could use some sprucing up. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The biggest turn off is the housekeeper’s cards in the hallway with very strong chemical odors. We have stayed here previously on university business and surely will again. Floors of balcony need to be refurbished.
