Harold's Chicken Shack

I always wanna support black businesses but always and repeatedly disappointed with extremely poor service. The first red flag was when I decided to call in and place my order while driving to the restaurant. The order taker picked up the call and ask me to hold on and I said OK. but I held on get to the restaurant. Placed my order in the restaurant. came back to the car still on hold? Just wanted to see how long it was gonna take. So I took my clothes to the cleaners next door. Came back, still on hold,15 minutes approx after I placed my order at the restaurant second red flag when the text came through my order was ready. The associate could not find my order while it was sitting on the counter. With the other orders getting cold, he proceed to take care of the person who just came in while keeping me waiting. That customer proceeded to tell him. No, he was ahead of me take care of him first meaning me. After another 5 min. He found my food. Why maintain loyalty for a black business that cannot show simple customer service and respect. Doesn't make sense poor customer service and the lack of respect. I will never come here again.

This is a great suburban location. I know a lot of people prefer their harolds from the city (I'm one of them ?) but I was not disappointed by the food, wait time, or service. I would visit this location for sure, and they take debit/credit. I appreciate a Harolds with that option.

I ordered online and got the text message that my food was ready. I went in to pick it up and was told that the system didn't print. She was very apologetic and even overflowed my containers. I will get sauce on the side because every single surface was covered. I got the cat and perch dinner, chicken wings, and okra.

I am sorry the cashier was nice, but food was very, very disappointing. Fish and fries were old tasting, and the chicken wasn't cooked right and fries were old and cold. Nothing like .Hyde park. Location. Please check your food before leaving. I won't be back.

Was extremely hot and it was fresh and it was delicious. I had liver and I had wings and the fries are good. All of us good

I haven’t been to this location in some years and I definitely won’t be back. I got there 5 mins before my food was to be ready. I waited another 20 mins for the girl to realize my food was sitting in the warmer the entire time. If I had time, I would have made them remake it. I get home and the wings were very small and had a terrible after taste like they were old. I will not be returning.

Can we please stop order from this place so that they may go out of business peacefully! Terrible in the way they represent Harold’s chicken. I ordered a 10pc mild sauce extra black pepper. I open the bag to these extra huge, soggy and slimey wings. No crunch. Stingy on the sauce that doesn’t even taste lil authentic Harold’s sauce and they are stingy as hell with the sauce like it will be deducted from their paychecks. If I wanted soggy partially sauces chicken I would’ve went to another location. I’ve ordered from here on several occasions and each time I hope is better than the last but this is the last time

Every time I order my take out food is always correct. The customer service is awesome! Never have I had a bad experience here. Kudos to the owners. Good workers are hard to find.

Pretty disappointing. I ordered a bucket of catfish on Sunday, and the fish is usually seasoned well. This fish was beyond bland and tasted as if they prepared it in the chicken batter or some plain flour. The texture and taste were not what it usually taste like. Beyond bland and hard. and I paid extra for mildsauce and only received two small cups of mildsauce and extra hot sauce which I dont eat. I always come here but I dont know if I will return after my most recent visit. The shrimp I ordered was good and well seasoned but the catfish was terrible !

Seems like no one wants to work being on hold for 19mins I know ur not that busy to keep someone waiting that long to put in a order smh

The chicken was nasty. It didn't have the original Harold's taste. It tasted like someone took it home, used old flour that's been in the refrigerator for a long time and they used seasoning salt and pepper only. I don't know if they ran out of the Harold's ingredients or what. It was gross. The fries were hard and tasted like it's been dipped back in the grease after sitting for a while. My husband and I were very disappointed and just threw the food away. I tried calling but no answer. This was the first and only Harold's I've been to that was not good. I no longer live in Illinois so when I come to visit, Harold's is my go to. To the owner of this location, I don't mean any harm but if the ingredients have literally changed, I will not be back. I'd like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but this was just my experience this particular day. This is my first time at this location and that's why I was really disappointed. To the Harold lovers, I would say don't look at this review as a negative because I don't know what happened that day. Please judge for yourselves. I don't have a Harold's where I live but Harold's will always be my number one chicken place.

Parking: The parking is shared with other businesses because it's in a small strip mall.
