This place is a gem! Excellent atmosphere and I hope it never changes! It's like stepping into a Hunter S Thompson story. Great food and drinks as well. Definitely take the leap and stop by especially on Thursday nights!

My wife has been coming here since high school. Excellent egg rolls with some of the hottest yellow mustard I’ve had . It will shock you if you’re not ready for the heat “Ding” noodles are a pan fried vermicelli noodle that is on the bottom of the entree, have them put it on the side so they stay crispy. Breakers will modify most entrees, I add curry to the moo goo gai pan. The chef’s steak dish is another good entree. Take a pass on the shrimp in lobster sauce, the rest of the dishes are good to very good. Crystal Lake water is part of every drink fyi. The decor is the same for the past 30 -40 years which makes it “Breakers”! I love this place. We always get good service and have plenty to take home.
The Breakers was my mother's favorite place to go out to eat. I took her to The Breakers many times. We always enjoyed any of the many menu items that were available. Elizabeth Landers was her name, and I am sure you are familiar with her son Edward. The service was always top notch. She liked a Brandy Ice for desert!
When back in Illinois, we always try to stop a this cantonese gem that has been around for decades. I had my usual beef bok choy, others had King Tso chicken and beef curry (which is a different kind of curry than Indian curry we learned). Egg rolls for the group - and we all agreed these are the best egg rolls we've ever had. We requested Danny for our waiter who only works part-time these days. He has worked there his whole life and is wonderful!
Loud, food was bad, the water they provide tastes strange and not clean, soy sauce tastes fake, crab Rangoon has almost to no filling.

Let’s start with the water they offer. The water they provided tasted like it came straight from a well. The food was terrible so we hardly ate any of our entrees.this place and the food is definitely not for me.
Kind of disappointed the food lacks flavoring portion size is smaller I most likely will not return this was my go to place for Chinese food I'll miss it

I love the food from here, but the eggrolls were a little overcooked, so they didn't taste right. This only happens occasionally, so don't let this one time keep you away.

Kid-friendliness: The staff was incredibly friendly with my two year old. Started him off with crayons to color and laughed and smiled with him every time they walked by.
