Went right before closing to get some sweets. Lots to choose from good prices but some stuff has a lot of sugar.

I think they stopped using butter, instead there are using cooking oil, charge more and use butter. Danish coffee cake it was gross.

I'm not really sure what everyone else is talking about because these people were the nicest people I've ever met.
We went in for some baked goods for breakfast and they had such a great selection! We couldn't decide what to get and we're college students so price was a big thing. The lady (who I'm guessing was the owner) was extremely nice and told us to get what we want and then she'll decide the price afterwards. We got a student discount and got SO many treats! We are genuinely so grateful we came here because we were able to save a lot of money but still try the goodies. Thank you guys so much! ❤️

If I could give this place a zero I totally would. Over $200 for a black and white cake not decorated at all and it tasted dry and unsatisfying as some people say. Their taste buds are WAYYYY OFFF then.

I have been getting phone calls on the behalf of this establishment, I have called several times to talk to the owners. They ignore you, pretend to have a language barrier and never call back, even hang up. This is a shady establishment in my opinion.

If you are looking for a no frills, local and high quality bakery with a staff of hardworking and kind people then this is your place. Cookies, cakes and donuts are all excellent. Highly recommend!

Small mom and pop shop with the best baked goods I've ever had. If you're nice and tip, they give great service. Good selections and helpful staff.

They use all natural ingredients and only butter so our family feels better after eating here.

Sylvia’s Bakery in Darien is an absolute gem! It’s become a weekly tradition for our family. My son is obsessed with the apple fritter—crisp on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, and loaded with apple chunks. My wife can’t get enough of the muffins (especially the blueberry), and I’m completely hooked on the apple coffee cake—moist, flavorful, and just the right amount of apple. Everything is homemade and fresh. Friendly service. Highly recommend!

Wanted to try it but unfortunately they were closed but Google says they are open. Not sure if it's once they run out they close up shop or what but it's only noon on a Monday.

My son loves blueberry pie and I special ordered it here! The pie crust was doughy and the blue berries were non existent! Just awful thick blue filling! We didn’t eat the rest of the pie! I brought it back just to show them how it didn’t have any berries…….didn’t want my money back! The owner, Raoul was there, and he was so nice! He was very appreciative that I bought the pie back because he needs to know what his bakers are doing! He said the bakers cut corners and this wasn’t a good pie! He wants his pies to have flaky crust with real fruit! Quess what! I am ordering my favorite egg custard pie from them! Great customer service!

I ordered a cake for my Son’s engagement party. The cake was so good and so beautiful. Thank you so much!

Sylvia's is a nice little bakery tucked away in a strip plaza and can be easy to miss. Pretty standard bakery countertop service, and the lady was patient with us since we took so long to decide what we wanted.
There were no prices listed on anything, so we weren't sure where we stood on cost as we continued adding things. We tried a number of things and were expecting a cost at least twice as much as we actually paid. Sylvia's is definitely a cost effective bakery.
The boston cream donut was king here. I ate it hours later and it was still soft like it had just came out of the oven.
The eclair was okay. Had actual cream in it, not the best tasting filling I've had though. I got the large one because she said the difference was $1.75. In retrospect I should have just gotten the small one because I didn't even come close to finishing this.
We tried a Russian tea cookie, which had a hint of cherry to it, it was nice but we tried it dry and it needed a beverage to really make it pop.
We also tried some kind of a strawberry pastry pouch which was really nice. It was like a puffed up scone. Bold fruity flavor and a delicate sweet crust. I'd get this again I don't typically enjoy sweets with fruit in them.
I also got a cheese danish which would probably grade at slightly above average. I feel I'm at fault for not reheating it long enough to soften the cheese filling to really bring this to life though.
We bought a loaf of rye bread off the clearance shelf for $1.50 but this was already pretty stale by the time I got it home. But I'll try most rye breads for $1.50 so I'm not mad about it.
Sylvia's is hidden insight within a strip plaza and could be easily missed if you arent paying attention. During our short visit they seemed to have a regular influx of patrons as well. The video I attached shows all the display cases they have here. It's a short but sweet, to the point set up and I'd come back if I was in the area during operation hours.
