Recently hosted my daughter’s 1st birthday at El Jimador’s upstairs venue and all my guests were super impressed with their food & drinks! Big thank you to Lupe who was amazing at helping us pick a menu & answering all my questions. Any parent knows how stressful it is to host a kids party and they definitely made us feel welcomed and comfortable. We had 1 bartender & 1 server and they both were amazing during our time there. We will definitely be back!

Just sharing my honest review for El Jimador Catering for our wedding. The girl who helped us out was very helpful and accommodating in what we wanted for our wedding. The day of the food tasting, the staff was so helpful and offered us so much food to choose from for our big day. But unfortunately we did have some complaints regarding the food the day of our wedding. We heard from several guests that some of the food was extremely salty, and unfortunately they weren’t able to eat it. I had paid an extra $300 for hand made tortillas that day and unfortunately the day of our wedding, some of our guests did not receive any tortillas because they ran out. (Which I was assured that never in their previous caterings did they ever run out of anything; but unfortunately that wasn’t the case with us). I did reach out afterwards to thank them for their service and also let them aware of the issues we had, but they never responded back.

I just moved to Dekalb Illinois like 9 months ago. And I had a rough start. I went through alot already since being here. I wanted to leave. But while going through this I found a safe space here at this here restaurant. Everyone here has been so welcoming, so nice it makes me come back for more. This is my go to stop. They know me by name now lol. They deserve all the tips in the world. I literally go in here and just eat chill and everything. I’m starting to learn their names. I love down town Dekalb as a whole. So now I feel safe because downtown and this place is my run to. It has everything I need while I’m here in Dekalb. I say go here I pray you experience the same.

Great food have mostly Mexican but other cuisine if not a Mexican food person. Waiter was great, service was fast, food was delicious. Great place you go if you want close to original Mexican food.
