I've never been into a steak and shake before in my life so I thought I would give it a try. I thought the fries were amazing because they were freshly cooked and hot, I ordered the double cheeseburger which also tasted fresh , it looked good and it was probably about the best fast food Burger I've ever had honestly. The reason for four stars is because you order off of a kiosk and then when you're making payment it asks you for a tip. I have a hard time tipping when I'm standing at a counter ordering from a kiosk and then wait for my name to be called. I also hate this because you feel like you haven't even got your food or any kind of service at all yet, and I feel like I'm a little bit squeezed because if I don't give a tip is somebody going to do something to my food? Anyway I did not tip because I ordered at a counter and my name is called when it was done.

No one greets you, have to order from Kiosk only and staff was on the rude side. Pop machine is kept locked and can only get refills by scanning bar code on receipt. Ridiculous! We won't be back.

Wow! What a turn around! I haven't been to this Steak and Shake for a number of years due to the previous poor service and dirty interior. Went today, the place was spotless the service fast and the food was really good. Great job in bringing an Iconic restaurant back from the brink!

I have worked food service for more than half my life, i dont feel great saying this. But this is the and or probably worst place consistantly i have ordered food from. Today is the third time in a span of 3 months where they completely screw up a simple order. Two burgers, and a shake. The issue is they put the wrong toppings on each burger, including topings we didnt pay for. Its as if someone is dyslexic and or missmatched our burgers toppings. Not to mention the tomato on one of these burgers is two inches thick see pic. Again ive worked food service, i understand the struggles i normally would never do this but this is so bad im breaking my own rules. This is embarassing, and three times in a row for a simple order, this is just stupid and a waste of my money and time. Also for a third time when i call the store, the phone rings indefinitely. It just keeps getting worse everytime i go there with my family

My friend and I stopped in for a quicker dine-in meal. There is 0 service (yet they ask for a tip at the self-serve kiosk). I ordered chili mac and a hot dog as those were the only options without cheese and weren't deep fried. The noodles were undercooked (almost crunchy) the chili was just a small scoop (nothing like the picture) and it was salty and disgusting, as though they threw chili powder into some ground beef the day before. It gave me heartburn the rest of the night. The hotdog was just a cheap plain frank, also very salty and no taste otherwise. When I said something about the lack of chili, the person from the kitchen just looked at me as though it was my fault for ordering it.
Needless to say this was VERY MUCH a downgrade of Steak and Shakes of the past and I won't be returning.
Always delicious food when I go here. They have yet to get my order wrong.

The man that brought my food was fast and very nice. I do jot like the automated ordering system. The burger was smaller and tasteless. The shake was smaller, but in a big glass to make you think it's bigger!
