Stopped at Whistle Stop Cafe while traveling — such a friendly and welcoming spot! The food is delicious, and the biscuits and gravy are a must-try. Definitely worth the stop!

Food is mediocre, ok for a quick bite. I got breakfast which was just ok. The service is excellent and the small town atmosphere was worth going for. A little pricey for eggs / breakfast.

The food and service is very good and well priced. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dated.

Best omelet I've had in a long time. I've tried many restaurants, and most are alright but this was by far the fluffiest omelet yet, also plenty of meat and. cheese. The waitresses are friendly, nice people. The model train rimning above the dining area is a very nice touch by people who love people.
Needless to say, I will be back.

Went with my son for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Let’s be clear this is your typical small town diner, eatery, or whatever you want to call it. It’s old and outdated but serves up some good food. Anyway. We got seated right away and drinks super fast along with our order being taken. I got the Reuben sandwich which came with soap and fries. The soup was a vegetable soup and was pretty good I must say. Nothing special but good. Now for the Reuben. The sandwich was delicious. I would have liked a bit more meat but for the money couldn’t complain. The meat was tender and flavorful. Sauerkraut was good. Not too tart and had some flavor to it. Bread was delicious. Fries were done perfectly and were nice and crispy. Now the coleslaw I ordered on the side. That was pretty gross I must say. The slaw was so sweet i couldn’t even eat it. I took 2 bites and that’s it. Also didn’t seem to have any salt or pepper in it or carrots either. Was very plain and way over sweetened. I’ll definitely go back just to try a few more items and see how it is. Staff was all super friendly and attentive.

Homey small-town restaurant just a mile off I-55, with excellent service and delicious food. It's easy to see why they have so many obvious regulars. We were just passing through, but the staff was clearly on first-name basis with most of the patrons there while we were. Extensive menu, including breakfast all day. I had a half Reuben off the Senior menu. It was piled high with melt-in-my-mouth house-made corned beef, plus fries on the side. Hubby had the roast beef wrap, with a side of creamy coleslaw, and raved about it the rest of the day. We will definitely stop back the next time we travel I-55 to the Chicago area.

This place is overpriced and portion size is crap compared to other places in the area. The ham steak was as thin as a piece of paper when there competitors are serving three times the size and cheaper price. Service was fine but again poor poor value for the moneh when just down the rd is better options period !!!!!
