Food is fresh and tasty, usually it's very busy at lunch time and the lady is always pretty nice even with the rush. However, today me and my sister came in to grab some subs for the family in the evening at about 5pm. The lady who is usually there wasn't there and it was a younger blonde girl. She seemed very irritated and angry, nobody was even there, she gave an attitude to my sister regarding the ingredients on the subs she ordered. It was my sisters 1st time there so she was trying to look at menu and get her ingredients right, but the lady seemed very snotty to us. She then was cursing and talking to the chef as if she may have had some personal stuff going on and that's why she was upset. Nothing to do with us but rather maybe she had a long day. I would definitely give her a talking to though as that behavior can ruin their reputation for being the friendly neighborhood sandwich shop. Other than that the place is great

There was no hesitation when I asked for a meat substitution. Service was fast at noon. Pricing was incredible! Lunch under $12.

Subs, salads, pastas, all home made, served by friendly family staff. Good variety of frozen pastas, meats, sauces available. Reasonable prices. Dine in or carryout. Bulk foods for parties.

Nice people. But the food really really sucks. Not sure why so many good reviews. I honestly am starting to think most people are sheep or don't know what they are talking about. They certainly haven't had real deli food. This place isn't Italian and isn't deli. You will get a better sandwich at a fast food joint.

Subs are fresh. Salads are excellent. If you are hungry consider dbl meat. But very very good food.

Amazing place, I love their meatballs. They even have subs that represent the local schools.

Great prosciutto sub. Ordering has always been pretty no frills. Nice preserved place when everything else around it is posh DG.

We were really excited to try this deli shoppe since we love subs. Maybe the hype just set the standards of this place too high for us, but it was just average. If I'm being honest, it's not worth the price of a sandwich as I barely had any indregients in between ny bread. This won't deter me from trying something else from here, maybe one of their pasta salads, as a small business I want to be supportive but I don't think I'll come back for their hoagies.

Charming old-school Italian delli sandwhich shop.We had the meatball.sub and Italian beef (w/ hot peppers) sandwiches. Both were delicious. Hot peppers had nice heat. We also got some pasta salad to goCounter service was very friendly. We will definitely come again!

Berto's is a neighborhood Italian deli and pasta shop right in the heart of Downers Grove on Main Street. They have daily lunch specials Monday through Friday. (My favorite is the freshly-made lasagna.) They sell both fresh and frozen pastas, as well as various cheeses, salads, sandwiches, and other specialties. The small dining area is cozy for family or small groups to meet. Phone ahead, and your order will be ready for pickup, but you will probably add something more to your order like I usually do. It is difficult not to add freshly-made mozzarella or artichoke salad to my order.Parking: Park in front of storefront or nearby lots.Kid-friendliness: Family atmosphere, ALL ages are welcome.

It's nice to have a delicious sandwich shop besides the typical Jimmy Johns etc. Nice people who work here and nice location in downtown Downers Grove. Pretty good sandwiches also.

I really like Berto's. It is probably my favorite sandwich restaurant.
